Alta accessport

Well to be fair, it isn't Alta that's not supporting the new N18 engines but rather Cobb Tuning that made changes to the hardware, and thus not being compatible with the new N18 engine. I'm all for hating the "Man" but the anger at Alta might be slightly misplaced here.

Cobb is dropping MINI, by others (NM) are stepping up for us N18ers!
Brownisland, spend some time doing some actual research. Before I ordered my MCS I had studied enough (without asking anyone to spoon feed me) to know what I wanted to upgrade. It is WAY more satisfying to figure things out yourself. Heck, who knows??? May be a generational thing though. To give you a little help... The aforementioned NM Engineering DOES offer to tune the... your N18 engine. Way of Way Motor Works may, I'm not sure. You WILL crater your warranty if you have this done. Good luck.

I just needed a little help since this is my first brand new car and my first MINI!

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to come across so heavy my friend. Congrats on the first new car. You picked a good one. Glad to see you ordered from the factory. I did the same. Spend some time just trolling MINI parts and pieces dealers and this site. Google searches are better than NAM's search feature though. Your JCW will come with the N18 engine. No Accessport. If and/or when you decide on a tune it won't be so easy to replace it with a factory tune. Until then (the time you decide to void most of your warranty, there are mods to do. First and best performance mod... Sway bar. I would recommend Way Motor Works website, http://www.waymotorworks.com
He carries a huge line of MINI stuff, does great work in his shop, is pretty much the southeast (at least) MINI expert, and on good days will happily answer questions on the phone.
Good luck and if you get stumped, send me a private message.

I think the AP is great, I had to shop around to find a good price, but it's def worth it. I originally only planned on buying it for a stage 1 tune, but I've now ordered a DP and exhaust to get me to stage 2. Once it's installed i'll let everyone know how it works with the AP.
