Alta accessport

If I stay stock - and just tune with accessport - is it worth it? do you really get 40 lb. ft. more torque?

Is it hard to do?

Are the maps easy to pick out and download?

Thanks in advance!

It's definitely worth it. Not inexpensive by any means, but does what it claims. It's very easy to use, changing maps takes 3-4 mins. It will transform your Mini. This is by far one of the best mods I have

I notice the Alta website only lists 2009-2011 for hardtop JCWs, where it lists 2009-2012 for the other JCW variants. I didn't think the JCW engine changed for 2012.

Every JCW owner should buy one

Installed the Stage one linear map

1. It fixed the over sensitive gas pedal - so much easier to engage the clutch in 1st gear
2. The torque gain is awesome - the car pulls much harder
3. I do not know if I need more power than what this gives - with front wheel drive what happens with exhaust and a better map - does 245/260 hp drive ok when modded and tuned?

+1...best mod I've done. It's hard to believe what it brings to the JCW

I used several generations of the Accessport in my various WRX's and WRX based cars (Saab 92x). A great device for more conservative modifiers, like myself. The newest version looks pretty fancy compared to the first one I used way back when. I'm still learning my way around my new (to me) 09' JCW. So far, I have no real desire to modify it: The power is fine, the braking is brilliant and I am in love with the car's feel on turn in and exit. All that said, I'd probably look for another Accessport if I were looking to start tweaking my MINI.

Does the access port also gain more hp on a stock car? What does it exactly change or the feeling from a stock to the access port? I'm very interested in getting it once I get my jcw coupe. I just wonder how much gain or improvement will it do to a jcw?

Pretty sure it won't with yours, I believe the '13s have the N18 engine and the AP is not compatible

I got one last week and it made the car more alive. At first I was skeptical but after the install, oh wow....

This is bad though... It makes me wanna mod my 09 JCW more... As in stage 3 more....

If one were to purchase and then use it... Is it possible to tune it back incase of warranty issue? Also if i remember this correctly, my 2009 Mini used to POP , my 2010 doesnt do it all, wasnt there a tune done by Mini that got rid of the Pop?

Yes, you can put the stock map back in.

I think they did get rid of the popping in 2010. It was brought back due to demand, however. I wouldn't miss it too much if I were you, but I could take it or leave it. Most people just ask what's wrong with the car...

Not if you have the N18 engine.
Alta currently shows it only for the 2009 - 2012 JCW's with the N14 engine.

Alta Performance explains it all on their site along with video demonstrations.

So I just talked to an Alta rep and THEY WILL NOT BE MAKING the Accessport for 2013 JCW... EVER.

Any suggestions on easy mods out there?

Easy... mods? You're gonna explain what that means to you.
Are you looking for the best-bang-for-buck? Are you looking for easy installation modifications?
Be more specific on what you're aiming for and we'll be able to tailor it to your needs / desires.

Alta Chris told me a year+ ago that Alta is not interested in modifying the accessport for the N18. N18 engine owners, we have been forsaken by Alta. Kinda makes me happy I only ever bought a $25 wee spring from them.
