Black plastic on rear suspension arm?!

I just took delivery yesterday and noticed it today. My MA said he asked the technician and said that it is just a plastic cover. No need to take it off and no need to worry if it pops off on its own.

Will try to upload a picture when I can get to a desktop...

Anyone seen this before?

Here's a pic of what I'm talking about. There's a black plastic cover at the bottom of the arm.

Anyone see this before?

Yessir. On both sides. I really have NO idea what they're for, if anything. I can't even tell if something was supposed to fit up in there for transport or what. It's an oddity that's for sure.

Yep, me too--on both rears. Couldn't see anything on the fronts though.

These covers are there to protect that suspension component. I have as well on mini JCW and MB S500. Should not fall off unless you hit something.
