If you can get 3 yrs for $1795; I'd jump on it. My dealer quoted me $3040 for 3 yrs and $3380 for the XXL plan which would also cover my Nav system for the same 3 yrs.

Is there any place to purchase the extended warranty over the phone for better pricing than +$3K?

Thanks- I have until October to make a decision. If you guys think this is a deal, I might as well take it, I'm not sure why other dealers are charging 3g.

READ this thread...
It is well worth the price for the extended warranty thru 100K
Also the maintance if you can afford it if not just keep changing the oil and filter
KEEP all receipts.. so you can prove you have used the correct oil and filter and the intervals...

Ah, I bet the lower price you are being quoted is for the "maintenance" plan whereas I was quoted $3K for a full extended warranty; "MINI Extended Motorer Protection" plan which covers all mechanical repairs and not the maintenance.

I would not pay that much for a maintenance plan but if you can get the Extended mechanical warranty for that price; it's a deal for sure.

thanks guys - I need to visit the dealer to figure this out. I spoke with 4 dealers in Jersey, 2 of them quoted me $1795, another quoted me $1712 and the cheapest was $1492. I don't understand how I'm getting different prices. They all used the last 7 digits of my VIN to give me the quote, so something doesn't make sense here.

An extended warranty on MINIs is a MUST!!!!!! Don't believe me, just call the stealership and ask the price of any king of maintenance... Any company that charges $195 for a replacement key and $175 for an oil filter is just plain freaking nutz in my book... I love the car, but have never and will never have anything done to it at the stealership... My biggest mistake was NOT buying an extended service plan when I purchased my used Mini...

i bought the EW through Carmax, where i bought my car. this has totally saved my butt, it must have cost Maxcare almost 10k in work so far! seems like lots of random stuff has "gone out" on my car, the rest has been "normal".

id say, get the warranty, bc as soon as almost anything breaks, its $2k to fix it! so, warranty should pay for itself the 1st time you use it. and YES, Haggle on the price! youd be surprised at what you can get away with

I was going to make that point until I read down far enough to get to your message. This was my situation also. Had I purchased the extended warranty when I first bought the car in 2009, I think it would have been $2500 or less because they would have had the money for 3 years before there could be a claim against it. My car just went over 20,000 miles recently and I bought the extended warranty on the last day of the 3 year warranty. As I was out of town and couldn't make it back to the dealership (3 hour drive from my house anyway), my dealer asked if I could use my 2nd key for a little while so the current data could get uploaded. I sent the key to them so they could pull the information off.

Anyway, my reasoning had to do with concern over things like clutch replacement. The price of one of those jobs would cancel out the price of the extended warranty.
