Jackin' the front end.

So after I got home today I was thinking of jacking up the front end to look under the front bumper. There isn't a point in the frame of the body to jack it up.

How do you guys look underneath? One side at a time?

And jackstands. THere is a way to use a 2x4 to jack the entire side up leaving the hard point free to place the stand. Searching should give you details.

There is a hard point in the center of the engine bay, but you would need the long, low jack that isn't that common to get it in one shot.

Here's how I have to do it since my car is lowered.

I just went through this also. I wanted to get the whole car up on jack stands. There isn't a real good center jacking point anywhere on the car. Here's what I did for the front. I started by driving the car up on some 3" homemade wood ramps I use for my other car. I then jacked the front end up using the frame rail at a point just behind the engine where it gets wider and flattens out. This still produced an uneven lifting result and once the jack stand placed on the side where the jack was located, I then moved the jack to the opposite side of the front end and proceeded to jack it up using the same location on the frame rail. This produced fairly good results. The car is still in the air now. I could get a pic of the spot I used the place the jack if needed.

If I want to look under the front end, I drive up onto Rhino Ramps.

Thanks for the input guys! Much appreciated! I haven't gotten around getting under the car yet. I just wish my wife would go for one of those hydraulic jacks that lifts up the whole car at once, I know that would be a involved tear down and build, if only, a man can dream.

If the boss ever agrees, let me know so I can come over and use it too.
