i'm cynical by nature, what if they just filled the holes and repaint the bumper without you knowing about it. the problem with getting a new bumper and having them paint it is that it may not match correctly with the rear bumper or the entire car. isn't the kit factory painted; therefore, you know with certainty that the paint is 100% matching. i hope everything goes well.

Like I stated earlier. I bought the JCW aero kit. The whole thing, all the parts. What the dealership is doing is getting a new front bumper cover and taking the parts off the old and putting them on the new. That is exactly what happened when I was in an accident this past summer.

Ah ha Trust me i thought the same thing. I said don't try patching it up and think i won't check!! the kit is painted at the port by a body shop. it's not on an assembly line. so i should see no problem.. I hope

Being in the bodyshop business, tell them NO!

You have two ways to remove holes like that...

a) epoxy

b) plastic weld.

In either case, the odds of it "dieing back" and showing an imprint later are great.

Plastic welding is better than an epoxy as the epoxy eventually will shrink a bit and you'll see an outline of where the repair was.

If you paint for a new bumper, I would tell them I want a new bumper FROM THE FACTORY ALREADY PAINTED!!!

Not one that they ordered in and painted but one already painted from the factory.

Even if they have to go so far as stealing one off another JCW, it's not your problem.

My .02 worth....

There's a thread on it somewhere here on NAM, including pics of all the gory details.
If I am not mistaken Alcantara is not really suede. I thought it was simulated suede, aka Ultrasuede which was offered on various clothing lines long ago. It actually was a brushed polyester fabric.] treated with a polyurethane coating. If I am correct, Alcantara is a great marketing program for run of the mill polyester cloth.

"insist on a full replacement" I like my front Euro plate, not because it matches the back, but because I get to push it to the limit. 156MPH so far.

Front bumper/license plate

Seriously though, I wouldnt buy a brand new car and accept some patch job from the dealer. Months from now you may regret it and you wont be able to insist on a full replacement
Actually, if done properly, I think that I'd rather have them fill the holes and repaint the front bumper. Getting another one, well someone is going to have to repaint it anyway. Most come in primer.

As for mine, I have the off set license plate. Iowa requires front license plates. I'm going to have a body shope fill the dimples where the license plate is suppose to go as I just can't stand those dimples. Anyway.
