how will i know if i have sport susp or not?
Look at the post above that asks what wheels fit my JCW brakes.
I just looked at the picture on that post of the JCW with the wheel off of it and the springs on that car are Black.
I think that a JCW without Sport Suspension has "S" suspension
A JCW with Sport Suspension will have the red springs, heavy duty shocks, & bigger front & rear sway bars installed weather it be from the factory or the dealer.

no it won't.
closer pic so we can see your springs. not too close. you do not have to take your tires off to see the springs.
This is why I love this Forum.
I went out and took a good flashlight and looked between my tire and wheel molding. I could clearly see my springs and they are BLACK with two red bands around the coils. I guess it was the red bands that stuck in my mind when I had the wheel off. I guess the red bands are what distinguish a Sport Suspension.
All I know for sure is that this suspension cost me $500.00 and is worth every single penny. It works great on the street and on the track. The BMW engineers did their homework on this item.
That is why I love this forum so much. I get to learn something new from people that are knowledgeable on high performance parts for the JCW as well as the "S" MotorMouth, Thanks for setting me straight on this subject. You were 100% right on this one.
I tried to do a photo but it just did not come out.

That's all that matters
I'm glad that we are now all in agreement that the factory sport suspension available as an option on a JCW, is not the same as the JCW sport suspension installed by the dealer. They are two different packages.
I think we can also make a similar analogy that the factory areo kit available as an option when building a JCW is not the same as the JCW areo kit that is installed by the dealer. They too are different packages with similar names.
Ronnie948, what really matters is that you are satisfied with the ride your car has with the factory sport suspension. Your car looks awesome and I'm sure it's a blast to drive.
Cheers.

Yep, I could not like a car more then I do this one.
This car is just plain "FUN" and is comfortable as well as fast and just plain looks good. I have had a lot of cars and this one seems to be the most enjoyable to own.
I just wish it had a way to get better top speed. Not for the street but for the track. 145/148 is just not fast enough to spank my friends Porsche.

He tops out at 165mph
He paid $75,000 for it used.
I'm not sure what year it is. I think it is a 2004. It was Randy Pobst's personal car. It is nice.

My car , Randy Pobst's Yellow AWD Turo Porshe, and Jack Goldye's Porsche at Daytona

Only in the turns.
When we hit the banks it is like I am stopped. The Porsche's fly by me like I was standing still. Jacks red Porsche is geared for a little over 165 And Randy's will do a good 180, My Mini as good as it is on the road course will only get up to 148 top speed. I just can't pedal it any faster.
My car is even faster with Randy Pobst driving it.
I have never had Randy in back of me going through the road course but I'm sure he would dust me good. If Randy was driving Jacks car I would probably be toast.
We just do some fun running and have a lot of respect for the speed and do not really want to destroy our cars. There was a guy in a Mustang December 2008 that hit the wall and totally destroyed his brand new Mustang Cobra.
Join a club and most of the time it is only $400.00 to hot lap for a day. You get out on the track at least four times if a lot of cars signed up. When you first start out you will need to pay for an instructor until you can solo. The first time I went it cost me $1,000 for the whole four days and that included my instructor. I had a Corvette at that time. It was very fast on the banks and straights but the crummy brakes held me back from being stupid.
I can't work anymore so I might not run my car again. I can't take the chance of blowing it up or wrecking it. Social Security does not cover much so I gotta slow myself down.
I sure would like to see how my car does with these new 215/45/17 Michelin Exalta PE2 tires on it.
One good thing about the Mini JCW is I have never heard anything but praise for my car at any event I have ever attended.

Stiffness
If you stay with runflats, the JCW suspension is a little harsh. But, I find the ride just fine for a daily commuter if the car is equipped with non runflats.
Actually the ss+ suspension on my old MCS felt stiffer than the JCW suspension on my new car.
It's funny, it depends on your personal driving style. I know people who track their car regularly and think that the JCW suspension is not stiff enough for the track, and prefer adjustable coil overs.
