Went Drifting Today
Well I would not recommend this, but I have had some professional race training so I thought I would run the JCW through the paces. I was a little leary that the JCW would not keep up with my expectations. I have owned a M3 and Z4 and have raced boxters and 911s in race class... so purchasing the JCW was a little bit of a lark. I actually intended to go and buy a Cayman but became interested in the the JCW for some reason.
Well first things first. I pushed the DTC button down for at least 3 seconds. That disengages both the DTC and the DSC. Now the car is under my control instead of the on-board computer.
With the DTC and DSC activated, the car will shift power, braking and trottle to allow you to safely get back under control. That was not my mission. I intended to trail break the corners, breaking the wheels loose and then hit the power to cause the wheel to spin and the car to drift through the turns.
I was impressed and will have to say the JCW is a very capable performance vehicle. I did not notice any fade in the Brembo's. The brakes were very impressive. Additionally, there was no noticable turbo lag and the engine wanted to just keep giving more. After this little warm up session I became very impressed with the JCW's capabilities and I am satisfied with my purchase.
The car was a real kick to drive. I even passed a WRX. I am sure that guy did a double take when a mini passed him. I was out of sight in two turns. Now I cant wait to install some coilovers. Half way through this little session I noticed I had this big ****-eating-grin on my face (where did that saying come from?). The only down side was that the run-flat tires are not the most performance oritented, but I am going to wait until I peel the rubber off before I upgrade them.
Well I will attest to the overall fun factor of the car and it handled as well as the best cars that I have driven.

Good review
Hi spinned,
Thanks for the information. I let Randy Pobst drive my 2009 JCW and He really liked the way it handled as well as the "NO TURBO LAG" horsepower the engine produces. The first thing he did was hold down the button to turn off the auto pilot so he could totaly control the car. I really never knew how fast a car could go around a corner until riding with him.
The Dunlop all season runflats did not really seam to slow Randy down at all. I will probably never drive like he does but for what I do I leave the button alone and let the car bail me out if I get into trouble. At least now I know what a JCW can do with a good driver driving.
