If you opt an get the convenience package which gives you the full functioning steering wheel buttons, when you upgrade your steering wheel to the JCW one with half leather/swede and all carbon fiber on the three sections, does it eliminate the functional buttons on the wheel in the convenience package? I am going to call the dealer on this but first i wanted to check on here.

Doesn't eliminate the buttons - just need to ensure your dealer orders the correct JCW Alcantara wheel.

 

I was under the impression that you could not get the JCW wheel and retain the multi-function capability.

 

You can get the JCW wheel to replace the MFSW, but you have to use the original inserts for the side spokes. Only the center spoke will take a CF insert.

I am about to order this exactly. And if you do order the center CF insert, make sure you request the one with the new JCW logo. It's a different part number.

 

The launch package optioned '09 JCW at Mini of Pittsburgh has the JCW wheel with the MFSW controls in place and functional - What I can't recall is whether they had their CF inserts or not!

 

MINI does not make CF inserts for the spokes with the MFSW controls -- you have to use the originals. I believe there is a very expensive aftermarket solution.
