Factory JCW brakes versus Dealer installed

I have a few questions about the all of the different variants of JCW brakes.

1) Can you get the Factory version of the 2009 JCW Cooper S/ Clubman installed as an option for a "regular" R56 Cooper S? I believe the answer is yes since you can configure the JCW Sport Brake kit for $1360 on the site.

2) Strangely enough, you can also choose this option for a regular R56 Cooper with standard 15" wheels selected and it doesn't prompt you to change your wheels. If these are indeed the same Brembo 4-piston super duper Factory installed brakes, then this would seem illogical....

Perhaps this JCW sport brake kit is different from the Factory installed version?

3) Can you install the MKI JCW kit on the R50 Cooper?

4) Is the pad size exactly the same on the MKI JCW brakes as the standard brakes on the R56? I believe the answer is yes.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

that's the optional red brakes...not the Brembo's from the JCW R56. Also, the configurator sees them as a dealer add, so, wheel choices aren't linked (I think). 15's will fit over them, but no OEM 15's will.

I was just at the Dealer today talking about this very issue and here's my understanding.

1) Yes that is right, there is also a JCW Rotor that will fit your stock NON-JCW caliper. We will also have a aftermarket slotted rotor for the R56S soon too. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=148982

2) PGT is right the link doesn't work right and the dealer would need to catch it and upgrade a non-S with 17's or 18's to fit over the super duper JCW full brake kit.

3) The Stock NON-R56 S front brakes will bolt right up to any R53, R52 and R50 with a simple change in the front line, we got them too, see this link for more details https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=112474

4) Yes, and I have a full line of low dust to hardcore track pads for them.

This link may also be helpful, https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...6&postcount=98

Hope that helps, Dustin

you don't need 18's to fit over the Brembo's.....the JCW comes with 17's.

First to clarify...the new JCW brakes(4 piston front calipers, bigger front and rear rotors) are different than the JCW Sports Brake(single piston front caliper, drilled front rotors).
You can retrofit the new JCW brakes to to a "regular" R56 Cooper S, but only if the vehicle has 17" or bigger wheels.

I would have to guess the configurator is wrong...my ETK shows "no" to every 15" and 16" factory light alloy wheel as well as the emergency wheels.
However, if the R56 Cooper has 17" or bigger wheels, you can fit either brake setup.

See my first reply above.

Yes, as long as you have the proper size wheels.

The part numbers are different, but that could just be the compound. As far as size...I don't know if they are the same.
