3hrs into my first oil change

Drove an hour and a half South to Gaithersburg to take Ethel in for her 1st years check-up. All it said was required was an oil change.

I have been hanging out now for three hours with no updates. Kind of wondering what they are doing. 5 people that came after me have come and gone.

My guess is they are messing up the software I am not going to go ask I will just give a low score on their coveted survey.

Approaching 5hrs sitting at the dealer. They did send someone out at 3.5hrs to tell me service was done but they were trying to interpret the diagnostics. Of course that is garbage they are doing something to her and they don’t want to explain what.

Diagnostics on an oil change?
What are they doing for so long,
waiting for results to come back
from Blackstone Labs?

Ended up just over 5hrs. They said they updated the software. Which is evident from pretty much everything being wiped and the car beeping when I lock and unlock. Fixed that already.

They also said the pressure valve on the gas tank had to be replaced. The SE has a pressurized tank and it was throwing codes. I told the service guy it was my worst expience ever at a Mini Dealer and that All he need to do was keep me updated and perhaps suggest a loaner so I could have gone to lunch.

I told him to expect ones on the on the customer service survey. The dealership will of course call Monday as they always do to request 5’s and I will tell them they are getting. 1’s. This will be my first time in ten years of owning a Mini I don’t give 5’s.

I just figured out it was your car - I thought you took your wife for a check up LOL
All jokes aside - I have been less than impressed with the interactions we've had at Mini service the first couple times we had to take the car in. The communications was terrible, no updates.

Whatever you do, do not ever let the dealership wash your car if they offer. That tacks on another 1.5 hours to the wait and they do a **** job.

My limited experience (3 visits to correct 2 non-critical issues in half a year) at my local Mini AD have been 3s on a scale of 1 to 5 -- specifically with the Service Advisors attitude.

The mechanical work done was great...5s.

For some reason, I have never gotten a Customer Service Survey afterward.

I also had a very positive experience with Mini Sales purchasing my SE Countryman in St Louis--quick and clear communication during long-distance negotiations (including a trade-in,) zero surprises when I got there, and quickly back on the road home in my new Hybrid.

Takes about 10-15 minutes at MINI Portland, they just drive it down the block to the touch less car wash. Hand washing went out years ago. Shuttle is also gone and they UBER you home as needed.

Oil change 60-90 minutes, simple to go up and ask what is going on. Not sure why OP waited without talking to them to get status updates? Probably flirting with other customers?
