First car without a dipstick and I will openly admit .. I hate it.
So .. I just did an oil change. As is my custom when doing oil changes, I go a little low to allow for any residual that might be in the car. So I did my check and this is what it shows me.
I would be most appreciative if someone with more Mini knowledge than I can tell me about what this means as far as additional oil. Is this 4oz, 12??
I certainly don't want to go over but I don't know what this amount of oil means as far as quantity. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
As long as the level is above the MIN line, then don't add any. If the level is at the MIN line, the car will tell you to add oil. According to the owners manual, only add 1 quart if oil level is displayed as LOW, and repeat the measurement.
Also, if I am reading the owners manual correctly, the oil level is monitored continuously, not only when you initiate the level check. The car should warn you when the oil level is detected low. I had heard that Mini added this due to the issues they had with the N14/N18 engines.
