Having a bit of an issue. Watched numerous videos and assumes a valve cover job would be a breeze. Got the old one off easily, and cant for the life of me fit the new one.
Realized it is the fuel line. (Valve cover is Bremen from ECS)
On the top right of the valve cover / engine block, the fuel line protrudes so much that fitting the new valve cover is impossible. See images.
Is this normal fuel line placement? Im quite shocked. Can I loosen this to rotate while pressurized?
I would be very grateful for any advice on this job! Do I need to remove the fuel line or pump assembly?
We seen this one other time on later year n18. Seems like its just the way the fuel line is located and the casting is so close. Try again and slip in at an angle and then make sure your not too far over and tighten down.
Genuine must be a hair smaller that fits in these cases.
Ok, it was the mold, its hair larger in the corner to make the cover more ridged and with the fuel line update just on the later year its just enough on some cars not to fit. Just get it on return, most people had to get the Genuine in order to work.

Thanks! I appreciate the confirmation. The part looked like high quality otherwise. I hope I’ll be able to return and perhaps try a fresh one from URO.
