Squealing metal ringing sound that goes away when depressing the clutch?
2017 S Hatch - 6spd Squealing metal ringing sound that goes away when depressing the clutch. Car drives great and shifts with no issue. It currently has about 46k on the clock and I bought it when it had 38k. I've lived with the noise but I figure I should probably stop ignoring it and get to fixing it.
Has anyone else had a similar sound or issue?
I'm very mechanically inclined so I may try and replace the clutch and throw-out bearing to see if it helps. I would be sad if that did not fix the noise as it would mean something more serious is going on.. hopefully not.
Typically, a squealing bearing noise that goes away when you press the clutch pedal would tell me the throw out bearing. Does it make the noise while idling in neutral? Maybe a mechanics stethoscope could help you find the source before pulling the gearbox.
