I'm looking to retrofit iDrive ID6 (touch) into my F56 pre-LCI JCW. I originally picked up a 4GB motherboard thinking to just do ID5, but I see a screen available locally now and I am wondering - if I buy the screen, a) can I go full ID6 (touch), and b) what other parts would I need? I know I need remote coding and so on, but before that, I want to make it's worth buying the screen or not.
My board is:
And the screen I would buy is an Innolux out of an F60, part # 6550 5A477D0-01:
Can anyone opine on whether this combo will work and whether I need to replace harness, etc or is it more or less plug and play? I've found threads on replacing the non-iDrive with ID6, but my upgrade is somewhat more minor so I wonder if that makes it more complicated in some ways. Thanks for any advice!
Ha ha 2GB ram also can run ID6. no black screen issue.
I'm kinda confused about that because there seems to be conflicting info. Is it worth doing ID6 on the 2GB and get a touchscreen, then? The one I linked above is really cheap, barely $100, so I don't even know if it's the right kind (or the seller doesn't know what he has).
