Just returned from dealership where I ignorantly overpaid for a new engine air filter. Turns out it's lacks the black party the original had and is just a cheap looking regular old Mann filter I saw on Google for $17.

These are the trusted ones. We have some performance options listed also. Those little foam filters in front of the main filter are used for cold climate. On the newer filters for MINI they are stock, on the older MINIs they used to have the on cold climate only (funny fact)
Watch those other site as they might not have cataloged MINI parts correctly, i see some cross over in models/chassis on split years.

Interesting - I just put a cleanable AFE dry filter on my F56. What's the cold climate/whatever other upside -- actual or theoretical -- for the foam component? The AFE I just put on doesn't have one but the factory/MANN I pulled does.
Yep, i think they just added it as a pre-filter so they can have one filter for all climates, Its has something to due with insulation and ice formation.
