Which years susceptible to ECU locking?

I have a 2017 Countryman S All4... but posting on the F56 page so it actually gets seen though :-)

Can anyone confirm which model years are susceptible to the ECU locking at the dealerships? I've heard mixed reports, some saying it's all gen 3 cars, some saying it's only model year 2020+ (to protect self driving features from being hacked).

I'd like to take my 2017 in for some warranty work (warranty expires in 3mo or so), but not at the risk of them locking down the ECU so it cant be flashed later by bytetronik, etc.

I've been able to successfully edit settings via bimmercode, but don't know that the ECU isn't already locked I guess. Anyone know how to confirm?

Thanks!

They started fitting the newest ECUs MG1CS201s since the LCI models came in 03/2018+ (Newest BMW, Mercedes etc have them too). They need PIN code to acces the ECU, related to flashing, I think Switzerland was the first that "cracked" the protection and they sell the access PIN codes to flashing/remap companies. That is what my remap guy told me, cost me a bit more money for the codes.
