Aftermarket Tach on F56

Has anyone added an aftermarket Tach to their F56? What did you use? How did you wire it?

I have a sequential shift light from Chippernut. It's super cool, but I'm having trouble getting a good solder on the actual LEDs- I opted for the DIY kit. Wiring is really simple, there is a tach signal on the OBD port loom. I got an adapter from Amazon and cut that open rather than try to dig into the actual OBD wires. Last thing I need to do, once I get the LED working right, is to find a way to get a lights on signal so the dimmer works.

Amazon Amazon

I'll have to look up later which wires went where. The only oddity is I couldn't find a wire that was hot only during ignition. So power is coming from the battery, all the time. But I figure it would take about a year to drain if from this little shift light.
