F55/F56 JMTC Clutch failure 3000 miles
JMTC Clutch failure 3000 miles
3000 miles into usage and the rivets for the inner spline sheared itself clean from the clutch. Just sharing what issues I have ran into running the JMTC kit. I installed a Clutchmasters fx300 in it's place with the JMTC SMF. More pedal effort is needed since it has more clamping force than the JMTC luk pressure plate (30% vs 110% over stock)
They don't believe it being possible and stated that the clutches are redesigned oem units (which they clearly are not). I'm going to send them back the broken unit and have their clutch guy inspect it.
Hopefully they do something for you
They sent a 6 puck replacement clutch. A clutch masters kevlar disc was ran after the jmtc kevlar failure happened. The surface area of the center plate was too shallow on the CM unit so the center sheared off which caused the splines to topside and fail.
Decided to run the 6 puck from JMTC and the rivets failed on that one with one day of driving. Talked to JMTC and they said my trans input shaft must be bad, they never owned up to it.
Purchased a TTV 5 puck ceramic clutch and have not had any issues logging miles on the new. Funny how that works out
I think I've had the transmission out of my car like 6 times so far. Not too terrible of a job
