This weekend I experimented with some Lamin-X headlight film as part of my blackout efforts (only Gunsmoke film). After an hour and lots of cussing, I gave up.
Has anyone successfully applied headlight film to our basically round headlights? Any tips or tricks?
I put yellow film on my foglights, which are probably more round than even the headlights. I removed them, because they are so recessed. But headlights you should be able to access easily enough. Spray the lights with plenty of water, and spray the film as well. Although yeah, you'll want to use a hair dryer on the film to warm it up, then one last spray at the last second. I did the fogs by holding them in a bench vise. Then holding the film in both hands and stretching it, pushed it straight over the center of the light. Covered as much as I could that way, then the process of slowly stretching, flattening with the squeegee tool. Again and again, working my way outwards. There are probably good videos on youtube- I'm sure I checked there, but yeah it's a lot harder with very round lights!
