Vibration in different transmission modes

Hi guys,
Just purchased a 2018 cooper s and noticed that at idle it’s smooth but then when I put the transmission over into m/s mode a can feel a distinct change and there’s a vibration when idling.

Everything is fine when driving accelerating etc.

Is it supposed to do that? Active engine mounts or something?

Neither my old 2015 nor my new 2019 MCS display this issue. Certainly when moving the shifter to M/s while driving, I can feel the car grab a lower gear and get "zippy", but at idle and stopped, I notice zero change in the car. No increased vibration.

I've had this issue for as long as I have had this car (2015 Mini F55 S), but very minor. The sport plus mode does raise the idle rpm very slightly; about 100-250. It has gotten significantly worse after I installed a catless downpipe a few days ago. I suspect it is the result of a leaking engine mount that I have. Engine is fine as you said under any kind of acceleration. Car is clocked in at 70,000 miles.

No issues with my 2017 ... it's equally smooth at idle. There is a bit of increase in exhaust noise, which could create that impression.

I admit that I may not notice since I always default to sports mode on startup.

Interesting. I would Classify it as a very subtle vibration. It also feels like the car is ever so slightly squatting like the clutch is slightly engaged and the braking is holding it back. Could be programmed that way for quicker launches in sport?

not a big deal just interested if it’s meant to be that way!

There is a service bulletin for the lower engine mount for the mount bushing failing. I replaced mine with the PowerFlex bushing. It will be replaced under warranty if there is a problem. This in not a recall just a service bulletin. You have to take the lower engine cover off to see it.

When I do as you describe in my 2016 MCS F55, I do feel RPM that went up a bit and car is more ready to move as I feel it under my brake pedal
