Removing the Dashboard Air Vents

Hi,

When attaching a phone holder to the back of the speedometer, I accidentally dropped a small washer into the air vent on the left of the center screen. Sometimes I can hear it sliding around in there on sharp curves. It seems to go all the way from the center vent to the driver-side vent. I have a small endoscope camera that I ran into the vents but can't find it.

Is there an easy way to remove either of the vent covers to get in there to take a look?

TIA

newtis.info for taking things apart in the MINI.

If it is a metal washer, get a small earth magnet attached to a long string and go fishing. You could leave it in while driving and hopefully you will catch something. Real fishing I always sucked out because I can't stand worms and live bait, but parts hunting is easy.

The fishing part probably won't work because the vents run on the horizontal. But leaving the magnet in while driving sounds good. Thanks.
