16" runflats vs 17" non runflats
Hey all. So, for these Gen3 Minis I'm curious your thoughts on a couple of things.. Since runflats have stiff sidewalls, I actually think that might help with steering response and from keeping the tires from feeling too soft and wallowy while cornering. Is there truth to this? .. because I have 16" runflats and am considering going to 17" non runflats. Will the 17s feel less responsive and softer in corners?.. or does the slightly lower profile help with that? Also, people say the comfort is better with standard tires but will the lower profile cause a 17 with regular tires feel similar in comfort to 16 and runflats? Really trying to decide what to do. I would prefer the looks of 17s but want to make sure I won't be disappointed. Everyone says ditch the runflats but I actually think they work pretty well with the Gen3 Minis.. Should I just get rid of them and go for new wheels and a good set of 17ers? Anyone having experience with both please feel free to chime in. Thanks!

We went from 17 to 16 runflats on my daughter's MINI . I noticed that it lost some of the sharpness with turn in but the ride was much better.
On my JCW, I switched to non runflats and the ride improved. The runflat ride wasn't as bad as some people make it out to be.
You have to decide if you can lose the ability to drive to a safe place once you get a flat with runflats or get stuck somewhere without them. My daughter got a flat leaving a concert in Newark,NJ in the middle of the night. If she didn't have run flats, it would've been a bad situation. She said that she didn't even feel the flat, the warning light was the only thing that told her the tire was flat.
