2015 F56 Cooper (non-S) what engine code do I have?
Just as the title implies, I am new to the F56 generation and just bought a 2015 non S model. I cannot find out if I have the B36 or B38 engine. Can someone assist? I would like to do an ECU tune (likely the dinan one for sale on way motor works page for $300) and I cannot find any reviews for the B36 engine but for the B38 engine...
Thanks!
By the way, compared to my 2006 R53 6MT with 17% pulley, this car stock has better power...just across the board. I'm shocked. I just miss the supercharger whine!
Thanks!

The only non S engine I was aware of is the B38. Of course it could be the same situation as the S where the early cars had the B48 and then changed to B46. (except the JCW, which kept the B48) If there are in fact two codes, I don't think it will make a difference which one you have if you're planning to install the Dinan Sport.

B38 & B36 are both in use. I believe the switch happened in 2016 model year. Yes the sport model handles both, I think only the Elite from Dinan is different because of slight cable differences. The engines from what I read are just slightly different in programming to account for fuel and efficiency to meet ULEV standards.
Take a look at Dinan website for product info and also run your VIN with a decoder site to see what engine they show for it.
