F55/F56 2015 F56 - Passenger Seat-Mat
2015 F56 - Passenger Seat-Mat
All,
Been a while since I posted though still frequently read the site to catch up on what's going on across the community.
With this message, I am hoping to get some feedback from folks who may have experienced a similar issue and I would also like to offer kudos for how my local dealership is handling the issue.
I originally noticed when turning on the heated seats button for my passenger seat, the three green lights illuminated for about 10 seconds and then all went blank. Upon trying to RE-engage the button, no lights would come on. Interestingly, the cycle would repeat but ONLY after turning the ignition off and letting it sit for a few minutes before a restart. Again, lights would come on but then turn off after about 10 seconds.
I took "Winston" in to FLOW MINI of Raleigh, NC and worked with their Service Manager (Josh) who is awesome. He quickly determined within a day of running the fault checker, that the passenger seat-mat (which apparently also controls how the air-bag works) needed to be replaced. Fairly quick....or so we all thought. We are now on the THIRD seat-mat part as the first two did not code properly with the vehicle. BMW apparently suggested that they WERE aware of a potential mis-match with the actual part number and that there may have been a bad batch of OEM seat-mat parts. Apparently, Josh even had the lead technician on the phone with colleagues in Europe and had "Winston" hooked up electronically so they could help with the diagnostics.
So, at this point, if you can believe it, we're up to 25 days. I have to say, FLOW is terrific....they had me in a 2019 loaner within 5 minutes of dropping off my car and Josh keeps me regularly informed.
As we wait, just wanted to put this out there to see what folks think.
While it's a bummer that what was supposed to be a quick fix is coming up on a month, I am also hoping that anyone who reads this in the Raleigh, NC area considers FLOW as an option when it comes to service. They are a good group over there.
Looking forward to some responses. Keep motoring!
Brian
