@ WayMotorWorks - How long would it take you to do the install?

I believe Dinan shows a 1 hour install time. Most dealers abide by that and will charge the going shop rate. For my BMW, install took about 2.5 hours but was only charged $156 (their per hour shop rate) + tax. While installs are fairly straightforward, I went w/ a dealer install just for the peace of mind that it was done properly, and should a problem arise, any issues would be the manufacturer or dealer related.

As an aside, I received a call from my BMW dealer today telling me that Dinan would replace my .v1 Stage 1 (Elite) w/ a .v2 due to the CEL my car threw. No charge to me for any of it. Because the unit was dealer installed, all the transaction was handled w/o my involvement. If I had done the install, there would certainly be questions about whether I insured all connections were properly seated, cable routing, are any loose now?, etc. May not have been a big deal for some, but one (or more) steps I avoided and one less removal and install I would have to do otherwise.

California Dreaming, I installed the Elite a few months ago on my F57 S convertible. IMHO opinion the biggest pain was getting the key fobs out of range. After that it was figuring out how to unhook the BMW connectors. All told it was maybe 30 minutes after I let the car go to sleep for 30 minutes per instructions. Just be careful routing and tying the harness up so it doesn't get in the way of anything and looks professional. I used a few extra ties.

I must admit that while doing the install I'm thinking to myself "what am I doing - an expensive car still under warranty." I finished the job, car started right up w/o problem. I reset time and date then took a test ride. Brought an immediate smile to my face.

Enjoy
