OK, I broke down and am picking up a "International Orange Edition" JCW tomorrow. Forget everything I said about the ride. LOL

I drove the JCW again and the ride wasn't that bad. The Dunlop Maxx tires are a vast improvement over runflats that I've experienced in the past.

It's been awhile. I finally picked up my International Orange JCW today. I was looking at a lot of options, but I finally gave in and bought the orange JCW. It's going to take me awhile to get used to the techie stuff. Considering the sports suspension and runflats, the car rides great and a lot quieter than my Cayman. I will miss the power and ultimate handling of the Cayman, but I will not miss the tire noise. The noise was enough to make grow tired of the car. This new MINI even with 18" wheels is fine on all road surfaces.
The engine seems to rev freer than my '15S. I only have 100 miles on the car.
Also, I had them remove the decals on the sides of the car, just a little too much for this 66yo.

The DDC is not really a big issue, its funny to switch the driving modes, and I bought it for resale reason. No true sports car have it. Its kind of placebo, good is that the steering get stiffer, the sport setup is well behind any KW or whatever coilover.

Congrats on the JCW! I had one for a year with sports suspension but found it a bit tiring on our less than perfect back roads, so I traded for an S model with DDC. I also kept my non run flat 50 series tires. Almost as comfy as my 2015 justa now. Loved the power in the JCW and you will too!

After owning three previous models, I think the new tires ( Dunlop Sport Maxx ) are a vast improvement over previous year's runflats. On my last , a '15S, I replaced the '17 Hankooks with the Bridgestone all-seasons (re960as) and the ride was pretty good, felt like non-runflats. I am amazed how well these new Dunlaps in an 18" model ride (and handle). I really like the ride of my new JCW.

As if the Orange didn't do it?
