Noticed something odd...

So I walked to my car earlier, and I noticed that on the fender gaps and hood gap, that there is this white, goopy grease-like (similar in texture and appearance to Crisco) seeping out of these areas. It is the oddest thing. It started pouring, so I didnt pop the hood, but while its pouring rain, I thought I'd post this, along with the pics I was able to snag before I got too wet. Anyone here ever had this happen on their car?

When I touch it, is literally feels like Crisco grease, smears like it and has no real scent.

Cosmoline. The below link is the result of doing a search with key word 'cosmoline'.

Never seen it "white", it also has a petroleum smell. Also on my cars it always just oozed out on really hot days and from the front of the hood.

Are you sure your MINI wasn't greased up for other reasons?

LOL. This is for sure oozing. It's very similar, as well, to Vaseline. Something else to add, it's been quite hot here the past week.

Maybe they have a different formulation or a newer product. Make sure to keep after it as it can permanently stain some parts of the car if left on it.

FWIW, if it is Cosmo, dealers are supposed to take care of cleaning it up, and they are supposed to replace any plastic parts that are permanently discolored or stained by the ooze.

Cavity wax. Noticed it after my first wash about an hour after delivery. Last summer in FL, I noticed it just kept coming out. MINI says they'll replace the molding free of charge. I'm a year and a half in, it still comes out, but not as much as it once did, and my moldings are completely stained. I've not let it bother me that much and with the life of the vehicle in mind, I figure I'll let them replace the moldings closer to lease end. My manual shift **** wear, however, is starting to annoy me now.

On topic: i see this wax at the bottom of my door corners. Hopefully not an issue .

Got the car to dealer last week and they cleaned and detailed the car, removing all ooze that was visible. They said it would more than likely do it again, so I told them I'd be bringing it back for another detail if it did.

Maybe your car is having nocturnal wet dreams and should be taken for a ride.

I had this coming out around the bonnet when we had a really hot day a few weeks ago. I made a note to ask the service rep when I take it for the first maintenance.

Thanks.
