NM power module install...

Hey there everyone, I'm about to purchase the NM power module and was wondering if there are any tips for the install? Anything to be aware of?

Looking at the install directions on the NM site, it's not totally clear to me on routing the harness. Anyone know of a video showing the process?

Also, does it matter if you have the B46 or B48 motor?

Thanks for your help!

David

Here's a pic of mine. I installed it last Saturday. You remove the intake scoop that attaches just behind the grille and the connector for the NM module is underneath. I routed the cable straight back, between the intake and the engine cover and around along the firewall to the top of the battery cover. You can see the cable in the lower left of the attached pic (the thinner cable). This is how it is pictured in the NM literature. Total install time was about 20 minutes.

From what I've seen, it's B46/B48 only (Cooper S and JCW 2.0 L). You may want to contact NM Engineering directly to see if there is a B38 version.

Exactly like mine. I've had mine in and out a few times so far when getting warranty work done.

Most say it's an easy install, but with so many 5-10 minute videos for other projects, why NM doesn't do one is beyond me.

When you have a $25K-$40K investment in a car, the assurance (through a video) of doing something is certainly welcome. I have held off purchasing one for that very reason. Of course, since getting the JCW tune through Mini, I'm not sure I need anymore power (but would be fun to try one just to see).

Yeah, there's something nice about actually seeing the procedure.

I recently fitted it to my car. I would normally take my car to a garage to get stuff fitted but for this one I bought a socket set, read the instructions and took my time. It was a lot easier than I thought and now can see how it takes only 5/10 mins to fit or remove.

Just take it step by step and you'll be fine. It's worth it!

Yep. It took me longer to figure out how to get the locking clip on the sensor to release than the install did. Even after doing it several times it still takes me a few minutes to figure it out whenever I install/remove it. Darn short term memory loss!
