Think I am going to just bite the bullet and get all 4 sensors from Mini direct. It's more expensive but based on my experience and everyone else's with anything that isnt OEM for the F56, this might be the best bet.

The continentals are OEM ( genuine MINI ) and the VDO's are used as an OE supplier. Should have no issue with either. Now using universals or off brands , you have to watch.

Click are link above for the VDO or Genuine MINI ones.

The VDO would ship out today if you get your order in asap, it goes priority mail with the free ship. 2-3 days. You could select to ship faster but it would not be free ship.

Charlie, I'm assuming that once you put the OEM tpms in your new wheels, it was all good?

I used tirerack sensors in tirerack wheels last November in my 2014 MCSa. The only problems were the tire installer couldn't read them with his sensor reader - complained about needing a $300 upgrade to handle the sensors. And it took a looong time to reset. Would stop at various % done but never gave any errors. And finally we realized when the car is restarted the TPS read nothing but would register after a minute of driving.

I can try to look up the manufacturer if that helps anybody.

That would be awesome if you don't mind looking that up? Yeah mine keeps trying to reset and usually it's stayed at 0% but occasionally has gone up as high as 49% and then it stopped there. Really annoying.

Yes that is so.

I offered and Pertplus asked so ...
The TPS from Tirerack I use are listed as 'Continental 433 mHZ'.
Hope this helps.

Yeah that's been my exact experience. I'm currently on my second set of non-working sensors from the local tire store and finally I called the MINI dealer who told me they'd need to order direct from them. So I marched into the tire store, relayed the information, and they did order them. I should have them in early this week. Too bad this has turned into such a fiasco, but I can't blame the store; they said this was the first F56 they'd worked on.

Well as the famous saying goes, "there's consolation in knowing you're not the only one." And I definitely feel somewhat better knowing that this isn't some isolated problem with my car specifically.

Sounds like they just ordered the wrong ones.

I just had mine put in as well and within 5 minutes they had finished resetting. I told the local tire shop so they've been warned to use OEM and not whatever third party part is recommended by their computer system.

You think this is one of those things where the manufacturer doesn't want you buying non-OEM parts to save money so they intentionally make it incompatible with anything that isn't OEM? I've never seen such a widespread problem with any one car with non-OEM (or at least OEM labeled) TPMS....

I'm certainly not qualified to say one way or the other, but at first glance it seems that way. Maybe someone who works for a service department could comment on that.

We had no issue with the VDO versions.

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on tires/wheels and TPMS at Tire Rack. I recall reading this thread and called Tire Rack to confirm comparability.

I was told that the part being used is the same OEM as MINI uses. He mentioned Huf as the manufacturer 433mHz. Seems like I recall reading somewhere that Huf is the OEM maker of the TPMS for MINI (also made in Germany).

Can anyone confirm that the MINI TPMS part is "HUF".

Anyone recently buy wheels and tires with TPMS and have an issue with the TPMS supplied by Tire Rack not re-calibrating?

I like the idea that when I order the entire deal, they come assembled and balanced to my installer. The caveat being if the TPMS doesn't work, the they are tearning everything apart to replace the sensors.

For the F56+ sensors , continental is the OEM brand ( you can see it on the one part by the BMW emblem on the ridge ), VDO is the aftermarket alternative.

Huf does all the pre F56 stuff.

Thank YouECSTuning. You saved me a big headache,

Soooo, I called Tire Rack back and talked to the same salesman. Told him that Huf was pre 2014 and Continental was ne 2014+ TPMS. Further explained the issue guys were having with their TPMS. He said he would check it out with the parts department. Sounded rather surprised that they were not up to speed on the change in TPMS.

5 minutes later I get a call from him. He asked me for the exact model and year of my MINI. 2015, F56 2 dr HT. He said I'm sorry (he didn't go far enough when checking the part manufacturer for my MINI), I gave you the wrong part number before. We use the Continental S1 55 433mHz TPMS for the 2014 and later MINI, which is the OEM part.

Guessing all is right.

I found the OEM parts (36106856209) on Amazon for $59 and change each. I was leery of aftermarket parts myself after reading this and a couple other threads.
