I really don't think you have to get the sport automatic with JCW interior to get that stitch. They give the red stitched cover with standard shift anyway and when you select automatic, at least in configurator, it shows the red stitch. Also in the JCW interior package it clearly says leather shift **** even if you configure it with automatic. They don't change price or description, if you change shift to automatic. I would talk to dealer first and make sure I get it when I order it.

I ordered the Cooper S with the JCW interior for $400. Here's the Pix of mine. Note the doors-ill SS pedals, and steering are all JCW but shifter is the standard.

Check with the dealer. Show them this pic and ask them why you didn't get this. See the attached pic.

Automatic with paddle shifters = Sport automatic. So confusing, but the order sheets your MA will have do call this out.

Dealer will chalk this up to configurator error, I bet. There IS a disclaimer that prices/features on the configurator do not always accurately reflect current prices or what's ordered. When the F56 first came out, the picture of the fog lights on the configurator showed the halo fogs the RXX MINIs were getting, though they didn't have them available for the F56.

Before I go into the dealership and inquire about the lack of red stitching on my MCS w/ regular automatic and the JCW interior package........

Does anyone here have the JCW interior package w/ the regular automatic transmission (no paddle shifters) and have red stitching on the shift handle and the leather boot?

Appears all pix posted here have the paddle shift automatic included with their JCW interior (which shows the red accent stitching).

Thanks to any that can help.

I do - but that's not how it came to me from the factory. I had to complain to get it, and my MA worked with corporate to make it happen. Note that I was an early buyer (took delivery May or June 2014).

Good to know, thanks for posting. I almost figured as much. While I like the car a lot, rather pisses me off that the $400 JCW interior package lacks something as simple as the red stitching accents on the shifter (which they indicate is a part of the package when you look at it). They apparently want you to pay another $250 for the paddle shifters to get the stitching from the factory.

I'll check one of their MCS floor models (which has the JCW interior pkg and see if it has the red accent stitching). If yes, then I'll pursue having them order me replacement parts, if not, I'll simply ask the question why, for $400 MINI (BMW) doesn't see fit to include it as a part of the package even when advertised. I'm surprised they included it on the steering wheel now since I didn't get the paddle shifter option.

It's not just the stitching. The leather is a nicer material (feels more like leather than vinyl), there's a nice brushed metal collar, and a red button for engaging the shifter.

This is really disappointing. Even if you order JCW interior package, there is no guarantee that you will get the red-stitched cover? I wonder if we have to document it specifically on order sheet. That way at least you are covered if the car ships without it.

Confirmed with MINI USA, you get the red stitching on the shift boot and **** only if you order the paddle shift tranny. Sucks.!

You can order the boot and **** through MINI parts and have it installed if you choose. For $400 JCW interior charge, you'd think they would include it.

They don't say that when you add the package. It clearly says shift boot cover. I assume if you get the manual shift, you will get it in the same price. That's fraudulent. I am sure if you make some noise, they will give it to you for free. Plus, I am planning on base cooper. The paddle shifter is not even an option with the base cooper.

Likely a global disclaimer on the configuator website that items listed are subject to change w/o notice. Not worth the hassle (for me) at the dealership to try and get it for free since they are the end seller and have no control on what is shipped from MINI Oxford.

Checked a floor model car w/ JCW interior package and it was missing the stitched shift boot and **** also.

Sooo, they win.

Does anyone how much it will cost to get it installed if it doesn't come with the package?I am planning to go to dealer tomorrow - I will ask them as well. However, I doubt my sales guy knows much. I asked him about the center arm rest on a car (floor model) and if the car had the Media package (since its part of it). He said center arm rest is not part of any package - you can add it as an option though

Let us know what the pricing is. MINIUSA rep said the boot comes off with three clips, should not be a big job so shop $ shouldn't be too bad.

I'll guess pricing to be around $500+ installed by the dealer. Part (retail at MINI) actually costs more than the entire JCW interior option. At discount best you are likely to find that shift kit is mid to high $300's.

In retrospect would have been way smarter and less expensive to order the sport auto with the paddles, You get the sportier gear rations, paddles and the red stitched shift kit for $250.

Search is your friend....

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...automatic.html

Complete with step by step instructions on how to change yours out for the red-stitch one.

The problem is Sewell is no longer selling parts so you'll have to find a new source.

ECS Tuning sells MINI parts lower than the dealer will and they are active on NAM!

My first post, I ordered my new 2016 2-door with the JCW interior package last week, looking forward to the red stitching, glad to know it will come on the automatic. Will definitely post pictures when I get mine (hopefully around mid-june or earlier!

Unless they've changed something, the red stitching will only be there if you got the paddle shifters with the automatic.

Very true and you won't get the JCW "Blind Ring" (the larger circle bezel center dash) with the JCW interior pkg either. If you decide to order the shifter with the JCW boot and **** after the fact, you'll pay as much for it as you did the entire JCW package.

If You haven't ordered the paddle shift auto, suggest you amend your order to get it. For the extra @$200 you get the shifter, Paddles and a more aggressively geared automatic.

Red stitching....

I just bought a used 2014 Cooper S with auto & JCW interior. It has red stitching on the shifter boot ant the steering wheel. If you're ordering one be sure to get the steering wheel mounted paddle shifters!

The red stitching does look good and a nice touch.

Ehh... at this point i'm good... if it comes without I will survive, I already had my dealer lady amend my order once, I don't think they would appreciate me bothering them to do it a second time, i'd make myself look like a fool :-P At $29,000 i'm in for enough... I think the one thing I will probably want to try and change the most is the dash surface to the black checkered pattern dash that is apparently only available on the Cooper S. I'm hoping that can be changed after delivery... Mine has the standard hazy grey dash and everything else is all black and red inside and out...
