Listening to Audiobooks in the Mini

I'm an audiobook lover. Just taken delivery of my car and I can't get my head around the best way to listen to a book. In previous vehicles, I've used an aux port connected to my smartphone to listen to my books.

This method works great as I can listen to the book on my phone in the house (whilst doing chores etc), then pause it, plug it into the car, then resume where I left off.

Trouble is, the Mini doesn't like my phone (HTC One M8). I tried plugging it into the aux port and the Mini says "Transfer of track information not supported on this device".

I can always copy the book over to a usb drive but then I can't pick up where I left off outside the car. Any workarounds (such as Bluetooth, or listening via a USB cord) or do I just hope for better Android support in the future?

Cheers!

Not sure, but using BT, the phone is playing the content and sending the info to the car audio system. Following that logic, when you remove the phone from the car, the phone should pick up where you left off in the book, and when connecting it back again using BT, to car again, it should again index to the last point of the content also.

Have you tried this using the Bluetooth connection in the MINI?

There's an Aux port.

As I said before, the car doesn't recognize my phone in the aux. Anyhow, Bluetooth works great, just as USA-RET said. You can pause playback on the car by simply hitting the power button under the nav screen or by hitting pause on your phone. Resumes perfectly in and out of the car. No more wires

The car would have no idea what's plugged into the Aux port.

The bulldog is connected to the USB port. On the right is the Aux input.
