Painting Brake Calipers

I'm planning on painting the brake calipers on my MCS this week. Probably red because I think it'd be the sportiest. Is this a fairly simple task? Or is it gonna be time consuming and easier to pay a dealership? Is there a certain brand of paint you recommend over the other? Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I used a Dupli color kit on mine as per instructions and would not recommend it. I have to touch them up frequently.

I used the duplicator also...but I got my calipers down to the metal with a rotary wheel on a drill...they came out incredibly clean and then I soaked them 2 times with brake cleaner and 1 time with alcohol. But I was changing out the pads and rotors when i did them. I used the black because my wheels are black and was't interested in them being seen ...but they came out pretty great and I only gave them one coat. The paint feels like it adhered really good. My pointers on painting them are to really get them clean before painting. Also give them time to dry before driving the vehicle ...meaning overnight!

What they said except look for G2. I don't remember much about it but its been hashed over on the forum many times, search it out. Had mine done so not much advice beyond that. They will get chips so you'll need to touch them up once in awhile

Just don't do this.

You should probably also make sure you are using a high heat paint.

I finished mine up this morning. I used the duplicolor kit and it turned out very nice! I did red. It was very simple and I put on multiple coats. I think it will work nicely.

I just ordered a kit from Eastwood. I read the reviews on dupli color before with poor results

I've done them both on and off the car. Of course, they come out much better if you take them completely off. You can get them cleaner and you can use spray primer and then spray paint. But them you have to bleed the brakes.

On the car you can still get them pretty clean and they still look better than stock. I plan on doing mine as well.
