Just spent an hour plus at a local dealership trying to narrow down the final few options on a build.
This blank on the center console is driving me crazy, couldn't find a single car with it filled in and no one knew what it was for.
The space 2 to the right of the heated seat and next to the defrost button.



Would love an answer.

I think you can't get that in the U.S.

 

I don't have the car yet, so have no manual. I'm trying to finalize my order and wanted to know what the space was for in case it was something I would need or want at some point.

It's for the heated windshield, which we don't have in the US. Sadly, for the OCD people out there, nothing you can do.

 

I think I will get some letters and label it the "eject" button.

I'm surprised Mini don't offer a $500 or £1,000 option to fill all available button and switch blanks, as it clearly matters a lot to some drivers. Seeing what rip-off prices they charge for other options that cost them nothing (for example, clear indicator lenses are a $95 option on base models in Britain!), you think they would recognise the opportunity....

 

Back in the archives somewhere, years ago, someone had stickers for sale that had all sorts of silly stuff to call empty switch positions.

 

Yep, that was what I was thinking I'd look for. I had a couple in my R53 back in the day.
These spaces are much smaller, though, so someone will have to make something F56/F55 specific I guess.
I have found a lady on Etsy who makes nice stuff for MINIs, maybe I'll drop her a note to see if this is something she'd be interested in offering. I also want to cover up the space below to the left where the switch for the back up camera goes (I think that is what goes there).

This is the set I had for my R53. Wish I could find the ones I never used.

I'll be danged. You really found it, I am impressed. Good luck on the pursuit. Years ago I had an engraved plastic tag made that said 'Do Not Invert' (standard explanation being that the E Type was not certified for aerobatics) stuck on the dashboard of one of my sports cars. I just had to have that for the MINI and found a source for those too. Problem with that outfit is the minimum order problem.

 

just snapped a picture of it to save and print out on some sticky label paper should work would just need to possibly trim the size a little bit.
or use it as a stencil to cut out from some old car vinyl car graphics paper i have laying around in the garage.

 

MINI USA used to send this set of stickers with the welcome packet with the Gen 1s.
Then MINI Pirate started making them for people who didn't get the welcome packet (they used to have a variety of stuff and it was random whether you got these stickers).

I want these. Every US MINI owner has at least ONE button that needs a label...

 

The good old toggle sticker, yes the blank spot is for heated windshield which we don't get here due to the Auto Pass / Easy Pass conflict.

But yet you can get the option on US version Rolls Royce (even side window) / Bentley , Certain Merc like the G-wagon, Range Rover ...etc. Which I know does not make sense.

So I emailed the Etsy seller I've been talking to (she does really nice "S" decals to replace the red ones). She totally remembers the toggle sticker sets and is all excited to update them for the newer MINIs. I told her I'd post here when she had something mocked up. I'm getting the first set!

Does any body make fake Toggle Switches to go in the empty cavities? You could have dual purpose switches up does one thing down does antother

Can someone who has already gotten their Gen 3 car measure the buttons and the round spaces? The Etsy seller emailed me that she's got a first mock up ready to go but she drives an R56 so doesn't have a current console to measure.

Afaik they were from mini pirate in the uk, I'm not sure if anyone still has the artwork or rights to reproduce, give me some time and I will dig around

Ps I also have a heated windscreen so no blank spaces
