Stupid and stolen

I park my car in a parking garage everyday. I take a corner spot on a higher floor to prevent the likelihood of my car getting scratched, keyed, or banged. I went to my car yesterday and noticed that I was missing one of my 4 tire valve caps (the checkerboard mini ones that I bought with the $100 free gift from mini). As I walked around my car I noticed that all four were gone! There's no way that they all flew off when driving as I've had them for almost a year now so I'm just suspecting that someone jacked them within the last week.... What the h*ll... I'm mad in that they are gone. I am confused on why that is all they took. I am in amazement that they noticed them in the first place. In my personal opinion, what a stupid thing to steal from a car... Everything else remained untouched.... I hope...

I learned this lesson the hard way as well. Not on my MINI but my BMW Z4 M. We had "M" caps on it and two times all four were stolen.

I just do not understand why you want BMW caps for your "crappy" car? I am assuming some deadbeat stole them because what type of person does that? I mean if you are a car lover like most of us are you have respect for other people's cars.

Sorry to hear about your caps going missing to.

I've had all my SSR embossed metal valve caps lifted long ago.
I suspect their on some kids' bikes in my neighborhood and/or
my work's neighborhood.

Somebody should invent a small super glue capsule that would release if you didn't know how to take them off properly. Just for the fun of seeing some ******* glued to your wheels.

Hmmm, I haven't looked at mine...Let's see...They didn't transfer them to my summer tires, but there is still at least one on my winter tires. I will have to order another set.

They pretty much exist to be stolen. I remember a kid in school (1970's) with a collection of them.

You're not alone. I've had this happen to a couple of cars. It's annoying, but if that's all they do to the car, I count myself lucky. Still stinks though - sorry.

I use a pair of pliers with plastic coated jaws to snug them up. Seems to work pretty good.

Has anyone invented barbed wire for metal valve caps yet ? That will fix 'em and give 'em what they deserve.

It never crossed my mind to walk around car lots and steal the valve caps off of cars.... I can't imagine kids doing this on a Friday night. I'm still in a stupid shock.

Kids do this stuff all the time in Chicago. They're a breeze to remove and they look flash. When I was growing up, kids would put them on their bikes.

This is the sole reason why I haven't put any valve caps on mine, I'd like to get some nice ones to match the wheels but I'm worried they'll immediately get stolen.

Just use the generic black plastic valve caps from the tire store, no one would steal those.

By the way guys, I use these. From Amazon. Cheap and very well built.

Cutequeen British Flag Silvery Tire Air Valve Caps With Anti-Theft Fit All Schrader valve(Pack of 4) -

Let the Helen key in the glove box or the tool box in the trunk, you need to loosen them if you want to refill the tyre.

Motor on!

People or kids LOVE valve stem caps.

I know when I was a kid, I always wanted cool ones for my bikes. I never stole any though. I am afraid that one day I'll come out to my car and my Black Jack valve stem caps will be gone. I've had them for almost 6 months now. *knocks on wood*

These things look great, and are good in theroy, but in areas that get snow and have corrosion, I would be willing to be these sieze within a year.

That stinks , really like the caps.

I heard of people thread locking them, but then they are really hard to get off when you need them off. Tightening them very hard with pliers helps.

Some times we cant have nice things and people want to steal them.

valve stem caps = easy theft target

I don't know anyone that had them for long. Kids steal them, kleptos steal them, bored people steal them. They take less than a minute to take off all four, most people wouldn't notice them missing at first. I bought two sets for an old car and both sets lasted less than a month before disappearing. Wised up after that.
