If you're "considering the JCW for the appearance more than any other reason" why pay the difference?

Is the extra power and torque plus larger brakes worth the difference to you?
Even though the engines are, indeed, slightly different, add the Burger Motorsports Stage 1 performance tuner for a mere $379., and your power/torque is darn near equal to the factory JCW. Actually, torque with the Stage 1 tuner is a bit higher than the JCW according to the numbers quoted for both.

In the end, you have to decide if the premium price increase is worth it to you. Me personally, for how I use my MCS it wouldn't be worth it for me to spend $3,600. more for a new JCW. For those who DO opt for the more expensive JCW, I think they'll be very pleased.

For somebody who like to shop from the window the JCW is the choice.
The JCW is factory tuning on a Cooper S.

If you think you can do it better buy an Cooper S as sound basic !

Strongly suggest you look at the 0 to 60 performance times for a JCW and an S on the Mini USA site, that you compare them, and then review the cost difference between a JCW and an S.

I was surprised to see that the "S" is rated only .9 second faster to 60mph over the 1.5. Is that accurate?

Why are we comparing 0-60 times at all, no MINI came from the factory focused on 0 to 60 times, and the new engines are even designed around not caring, the only focused on eliminating lag and having usable power. Anyone who says that this generation of Cooper is slow, has not driven them, you should drive a Cooper s with standard suspension, and if you like it go for it, you get a lot of nice things with the JCW, but it does not sound like you would use them, so don't pay for them, and if you find yourself thinking about how you'd be jealous of the JCW next to you, just remember its a car that almost all the world thinks is the same as an S, and for your use, its just a badge.

Did a comparison and the JCW comes in $3K more that the regular S with all the packages. Money aside, is the JCW a smart buy over the regualr S?

I kinda like the motor (although the S should be more than peppy enough). I figure Dampers are a necessity since we like a softer ride and the sport package w/ comes standard stiffens things up further than the stock S which we found to be a bit "jittery" as is.

I assume if I pick the $500 Dampeners for the JCW, it should tame the ride down to something softer than the S, correct?

We are considering the JCW for the appearance more than any other reason (and it was the first model my wife wanted before considering the F55 4dr HT or the regular S 2 dr). Seems like every time we get on the configutor we change something else.

Since reading this forum, we are going to order our accessories through a forum vendor rather than the dealer. Lots of excellent info from a great membership here.
From a performance standpoint I would choose the JCW if I had the extra to spend over modifying an S model.

I also like the Factory F series JCW exhaust set up where they provide a special key fob that when activated changes the exhaust flow to "straight thru" bypassing the rear mufflers.......pretty cool.

Pull the trigger if you can, I went a lap around Lime Rock Park this past fall in one, and even with stock RF tires was kicking butt with everything else on the track in both times and cornering....(BMW M series and alike )

I believe that's a feature of the exhaust in the JCW Tuning Kit not the factory exhaust.
