Does that mean the software update gives a slight increase in boost? Say 2-3 psi, similar to what aftermarket tuning boxes are doing?

So if we were to combine the JCW Tuning Kit with a BMS Stage 1, the car would be pushing 5-6 psi over stock boost? That's quite dangerous for people running lower quality fuel.
There is a tune reprogram included. My guess its more complicated than just boost but like I said before we are already 205bhp so its more like 5-10 bhp...one thing it does do is increase the pop and burble. I have been running +5boost for a while now which puts me just over a stock BMW 228 which folks are running well over 320bhp in.

So expensive, though, for minimal power gains.

I have the Kit for some time, the gain in performance is a slight higher punch in top gears you can squeeze the the 5th quite long, the real gain is the exhaust.

Without electronic throttle you might would follow an JCW in his slipstream

I've had mine installed for a few months and love it, had an issue with the valve closing on its own but had it refreshed and that seems to have resolved the issue. I'd be interested in the exact HP with this kit, has anyone had a chance to dyno it yet?

Where does this replace the stock one? Is it behind the first cat/ second cat? Is there cutting/welding or is it straight bolt on?

It's a bolt behind main cat, for all those with these older than June 1st they were under a No Sale order from Mini and were supposed to be returned, just a FYI. If they were not installed at a Dealer your warranty according to MINI is void.

Question for anyone who has the jcw tuning kit, it's a little bit unusual so please think about it carefully. How quiet is the system?

JCW Tuning Kit: When closed and not on sport it can be fine and not too aggressive.

Hi guys I know this thread started....last fall? But I just wanted to share what I did at the dealership yesterday. So although I did the build...with her approval on several items....this is my wife's car (we traded in her 2013 Countryman S all 4) she is letting me do "a few" mods. The first of which is the mini "performance" upgrade. Well it's a JCW so obviously I'm getting the Bluetooth exhaust only. One of the reps had the system on his f56 S 2 door. He was kind enough to take me out in the rain, and let me listen to his exhaust while being open, then closed. I loved the sound. Now I would like some more HP coming from either a flash or piggyback, but through reading this site it looks like the best I can do is about a 20hp gain. But....if I was to get one (like Terry's at Burger), PLUS the new exhaust (let's face it guys, gains are ALWAYS lower than advertised), PLUS a cold air coned intake, I think I would get roughly a 30 HP gain....and I think that's optimistic.

I also read in this thread a few comments about "why buy the Mini performance upgrade when I could get xxHP and not have to pay over 2 grand". Well in their defense if you order the kit while you're purchasing your car....just like me and my wife yesterday....you are able to finance that into your car. I chose to just pay for it, but for other guys it's a good option. Had I added the kit to my financing, it would have cost me something like $8.00 per month. We are in a good spot, because once again I'm waaay ahead with my equity, since on her last car I had just received a 30k bonus (net) so I put 15k down on a pre-built LOADED Countryman S All4, plus we pay double the car payment each month. So this $40k out the door JCW required only 20k worth of financing. We pay about 1k/month, so we are always "ahead" of the game.

Sorry on that last post I made I meant to mention that I REALLY don't like the tips on the Mini "performance upgrade" exhaust. Does anyone know if I can simply keep the stock tips? Or maybe somebody knows where to buy some after market tips?
