97% Engine Oil Level?

I've been doing the oil change at home and just did for the 3rd time at 15,000 miles.
This is how I've been checking the level.
When the crankcase is empty, I add 5 quarts. Then I drive around just enough to bring the egine to normal operating temp, let it idle for a while on a flat surface (my garage floor) and read the level.
The first 2 times it was at 97%.
So, this 3rd time, I added extra about 1/4 qt (total 5.25 qt or 4969 cc). But it still reads at 97%. I thought that was weird.
If you do your oil change, how much oil do you add and what % do you see?

For the 2.0L most are using 5.3 Quarts ( ~5.1 Liters) and got it to full mark. MINI Just switched to new oil containers from Shell Oil and its in liters now. Quarts where in the old Castrol stuff

Thanks

So this is the "no dipstick" world of today?

Does it matter? I mean with a dipstick the measurement is to show the oil level relative to a given min-max.

Isn't 97% good enough?

Not trying to play games, I am asking for real. With my dipstick I can't tell if I am 97% or 100% full. Not enough granularity I'm the tool.

I think what he meant was when he put an extra 1/4 qt. of oil in it why didn't it register >100% when it was supposedly full. I remember R56 owners getting a little nervous because the car took 4.5qts and dealers would routinely put in 5.0 so the oil was over the full mark. It didn't matter of course. The older cars would probably burn it off by the time you got home lol.
