Oil Compatibility

Alright.... it is almost time for my 2nd Oil Change.
1st Round i used Genuine Mini Oil at about $7.50 a quart. = $37.50 for 5 Qts.

I want to find something from Local Wal Mart and Auto parts store that comes in a Jug.

I know Mobil1 and Castrol have their 0w40 Euro Formula Oil, that goes for about $22 a Jug. Are both of these compatible with our Mini F56?

Driving about 75Miles a day, I change my oil quite often. Just trying to save wherever possible if you know what i mean.

So can anyone CONFIRM that the above 2 is a APPROVED oil to use in our engine?

I think those oils are OK, pretty sure of the Mobil 1. Something about level 1 or grade 1 Euro rating or something. This has been covered a bunch on the R56 threads. 0-40W is the key thing I think.

If you have a 2014 MINI Hardtop:

BMW Longlife-01
BMW Longlife-01 FE
0w-30, 0w-40, 5w-30, and 5w-40 are ok.

Mobil 1 0w-40 European Car Formula meets BMW Longlife-01. Check the label on the back before buying.

Source: owner's manual at MINIUSA.com and label on Mobil 1 in my garage. I spent hours finding a reasonably priced oil that would satisfy both the BMW and VW requirements for the cars in our garage. Then I used a dump trunk to unload my head.

Does it only need 1 of the "BMW Longlife"? Or BOTH needs to be present?

Both 01 and 01 FE are approved. You can use either.

The oil is hype in my opinion. Any quality full-synthetic oil will do the job. That rest is just marketing.

if your car is under factory warranty and you are doing your own oil changes, the oil needs to meet mini specs

also keep a log of the miles and date of change with the receipts for the oil and filters

Are these MINI requirements that are written somewhere?

Besides BMW LL-01, oils should also meet ACEA A3/B3 specs.

"BMW LL-01, oils should also meet ACEA A3/B3 specs." Yep. We have the oil filters also and the socket.

We have a F56 Oil change DIY here, note the oil capacities have been updated as well as the kits, there is F56 Cooper Kit and F56 Cooper S kit.
