Mini says 6.4 for auto and 6.5 for manual trans. The numbers must be transposed.

The auto is quicker. I forget the details, but there is some kind of rabbit start option for the automatics.

Yes, the auto is quicker. I was commenting on the claim of 5.6 for the MCS. Should have been 6.5?

The sport auto has launch control. Still in the break-in period so haven't tried it yet.

I had to have some repairs done to my 2009 Clubman S and had a 2014 MCS loaner. It was nice to see some features on the loaner that I probably wouldn't have gotten, but ended wanting..

So, I just got a 2015 MCS about 10 days ago. Deep Blue, Black roof/mirrors, Manual,

My options:
Comfort Access: a must (had on my Clubbie... even better on my new MCS)
Manual: Clubbie had auto, love the manual
sunroof: love it. Don't mind the noise, drive with windows down a lot too.
bluetooth upgrade: awesome. great integration with iPhone 5 (audio and phone)
standard sport seats: loved my clubbie sport seats and these too
nav: came with my car, didn't want it, but the larger screen is great. only used nav once, could have lived without it.
rubber mats: will probably always have them. life saver.
auto air: just ok. wish I could sync both sides to the same temp. Personally liked my clubbie auto air better
led (no cornering): visibility is great. they look good too

Getting stripes next week.. solid black straight stripes on hood and boot.
Getting tinting next week... ceramic... not sure of % yet.

protectant (in and out). I negotiated to $250. Same as my Clubbie, worth if you have one incident.

Got extended warranty and extended maintenance. Paid for itself with my 2009 clubbie more than once.

Didn't get, but wish I did:
auto dimming rear: clubbie had it and already miss it.
rally driving lights: always liked the look. I live in a rural area they would be useful. Maybe add later.

HUD: my loaner had it, but don't have it, like everyone said, polarized sunglasses make is useless. Also, moves your speedo about 3 inches higher.

Auto: loaner had auto. I was good and comparable to my clubbie auto in feel, but the manual is great. I think I could go either way on this one, but happy so far with manual.

TX1911fan, I am curious how you ordered Dark Cottonwood. Did you order online @ sewellparts.com? I could not find Dark Cottonwood in their system. May I need parts number for search?

what is the protectant you are talking about Kyle?

Also, how much did the extended warranty run you? I am picking my new MCS up first thing next month (I hope... stupid boats...)

I bought my 2014 non-S off the lot--the wait was going to be too long and I didn't want to put any more money into my old ride. So I didn't choose the options. That being said,
  • heated seats are awesome, even in a region that doesn't get cold.
  • the base audio system is not good enough; would have ordered HK
  • the LED lights are awesome (don't have the cornering ones)
  • armrest sucks. SUCKS. Why? Because if you have your seats tilted back, it won't tilt back far enough to match them, and you hit it with your elbow if you're moving around, like fishing in your pockets or what-not.
  • Will have to get third-party mats, because this carpeted mat is useless.
  • Climate control is good, but a little dumb. If it's cold outside but warm in the car, it seems to make it too warm; and like others have noted, it doesn't know to turn on the A/C.
There's one great option that doesn't come from MINI--it's the Cravenspeed phone holder. It is awesome to have a phone holder that not only works well but fits seamlessly with your car.

The protectant is a perma-plate coating the dealer sprays on the exterior and interior of the car. My was called Zurich Shield. The specifics may be different from dealer to dealer. The coverage is nuts. They will fix exterior damage from de-icing chemicals to bird-crap to tree sap to paint over spray. They will cover interior from fading, cracking, stitching and clean stains from food, crayons, bodily fluids (actually says blood, urine, vomit, and many others. The coverage period for mine is 7 years unlimited miles. They try to charge around $700. I knew from a friend their cost is less than $300, so I negotiated. This is one of those up sale things they do in the financial part of your deal.

I extend the warranty to 8 years, 100K. I paid $3000. It a BMW warranty. It sounds like a lot, but in my 2009 Clubbie, at 80K miles, I had the turbo replaced and new head gasket and new head cover and some other work done for about $5500. Then at 60K, they replaced the radio and some other work for about $1200. One other time, I had $800 worth of work done. Each time I only paid the $50 deductible. In addition, it extends your roadside. Two of those times, they had to tow the car to the dealer and I got a loaner. If you can afford it now, I think the peace of mind (for me) is worth it if you plan on keeping your car. Also, its been great to have for another reason. The dealer seems to "fight" for the work to be done on my behalf. They call and say, we see some stuff to do, I just need your authorization to pay the deductible... Well duh! Its a win-win. They get the work and my car is taken care of... well hopefully better.

Hope this helps

I got the Mini/BMW XXL directly from the dealer Niello Mini in Sacramento, CA. I did have a special situation under my other car with Zurich warranty and probably got a pretty good deal on my new one. The $3650 is their going price (no discount), but they typically have some room to negotiate. If you got both extended warranty and extended maintenance you probably would get a better deal.

I didn't get the auto dimming/home link on my 2015, but I had it on my 2009. I don't miss it. The reason is the mirror itself is quite a bit larger than the non dim/homelink one. Also, the homelink never worked that well with my modern opener. I guess the new openers have rotating signal ids. It worked sometimes, but not others, so I had to carry a door remote in my car anyway. So, I didn't bother with it this round. Maybe its better now (I would expect it would be)

Hope this helps
