Love that there still arent too many on the road yet. I see a lot of R drivers drooling at my car whenever I pass one

I'm happy with the F56. I loved the R56, but understood that not everyone in the non-MINI world would like it. The F56 is a lot more civilized, but without losing the character MINIacs want. I've had it a month yesterday, and have already gone through 6 states in it. It's as good on I-10 as it is on AR 23 (Pig Trail).

BTW, I had an appointment yesterday with my father's financial advisor in Florida. He took one look at it and was drooling. I asked if he wanted to drive it, and he couldn't get to the car fast enough. He loved it, and that was on straight city streets. Can you imagine if he'd had a chance to really test the handling?

I'm still not crazy about the front end looks, but the rest of the car is great. I think it will do well.

That's truly remarkable, given how cheap gas is at the moment. Usually MINI sales don't go up all that much until people are complaining about the cost.

Speaking of resale/trade values, I figure ill weigh in.

Just traded my 2014 mini f56S in for a 2015 STI. (Im young, got a bump in pay, no real bills yet, why not )

Retail on the car was 27K, I got about 750 bucks knocked off it. So I think I payed near 26.5K.

5k miles, immaculate.

Carmax was like 20500, autonation 19750, ended up trading to the subaru dealer for around $20,250 (plus sales tax benefits which equaled a bit more than what carmax was going to pay) Edmunds valued it at about 21200.

I think the resale was kinda shitty, however, I made the mistake of buying a 2014 right before 2015s became available and not being able to negotiate the price down much. Had I waited and bought a 2015 and kept that for the same amount of time I think I would have ended up better off.

Ended up with 5k miles and 6 month and losing nearly 25% value.

What did you expect in such a short period? Try Mercedes, BMW, or Audi and you'll be lucky if the % depreciation isn't more.

Wow new car after only 6 months and eating nearly 7 grand.... I'd feel sick to my stomach after that one. And here I am, people telling me I am getting rid of my Lexus too soon.... It's been 4.5 years..

Love the car, drive it all the time, no regrets.

Could care less what Mini's sales numbers are.

True story. I didn't buy a FWD, manual Audi A3 back in 2007 because I wanted good resale value. Buy the car you want and enjoy driving it. Otherwise, buy a Corolla.

Very true. I bought a 2013 Dodge Durango R/T AWD Hemi. Love that car despite knowing resale will be horrible. I don't care. Love the Mercedes ML class underpinnings, look and utility of it. Also love the crap out of my used 2012 Justa 6-speed Mini. So much so that I'm going to get another when this is out of warranty. Resale?? With today's high prices you're going to take a hit on anything, especially the 1st year.

My 2008 Non-S 6-speed mini just went out of warranty (only have 38k miles on it, bought it used). Such low mileage, can I use the warranty excuse to justify trading it in for a 2015?

Yes. I haven't driven the 2015 Justa, so you'll have to take this with a grain of salt, but it's impossible to compare the 2007 S with the 2015 S. As much as I loved my 2007, the 2015 is far superior. I'm still not crazy about the looks, mind you, but it's more comfortable (ala BMW) while being a much better MINI. Gone is the massive torque steer, for example. The ride is better, without sacrificing the handling. Quality of materials, "tightness," lack of rattles, etc., are all better. I've found very little to complain about--chiefly looks, in fact. At nearly 7,000 miles, I still don't have anything to fix, which was not something I could have said about the 2007, even though that was (for me) a very reliable car.

When Chili Red was discontinued, except for the JCW which is/was out of my budget, I seriously looked for a Chili Red 2013 already in the pipeline. I'd already missed the deadline for ordering a new one because I had an extra house hanging around my neck that I needed to get rid of first. I looked at websites for dealers all over the country but couldn't find what I needed, which was a newer version of what I was already driving!

Enter the MINI Test Drive contest. No, I didn't win it, but my kids did. They reported that the car was improved. I'm so glad I had the input of their experience, because I would have made a serious mistake had I bought another R56.

So, drive one and make your own choice. For me, I got the F56...

Thank you for the thoughtful response daffodildeb
Have to admit being a bit intimidated by your 103,000 on the 07, that is
way impressive!

The new justa actually feels like an S too. It's not quite as fast as my R56 S was but it's a whole lot more fun than my wife's justa Clubman. So much torque

You're welcome! The really amazing thing is that I work out of my home, so I've never needed it as a commuting car. I think my hubby took it to his work a couple of times, but essentially those were fun miles. In fact, since we moved here 2 years ago, they've been almost all twisties in both MINIs, 'cause that's all we have here.

LOL, that's what happens no matter brand car you trade after only a year....it's one of the top 3 worst financial moves one could make right after buying a boat and giving money to the Bernie Madoff.

I had a 2014 wrx for about two months with 9k miles. Got it for $24,900, I took it to carmax and they paid me $27,000. Lost about 500 but was glad to get rid of it for the MINI.
