OP,
If you really like the last model better, there are still a few new 2013s at a few dealers in the US. I'm sure you could get a great deal on one and have it shipped to where ever you need.

Are F56 sales figures disappointing to MINI?

Anyone else follow "Car Talk?"

I stumbled across this "Car Talk" blog post about the Superleggera concept and was shocked at how they casually criticized current models offered by MINI. Even more surprising was the statement that F56s aren't selling as well as expected:

The F has a heavier TWO liter engine, the R has a more tuned 1600 engine.
I prefer the F= more real power at every rpm. But you don't feel it so much, it's more civilized.

Exactly!

My wife's Countryman All4 rattles and is loud like a lawnmower in comparison to my F56S. The F56 isn't the go kart in comparison to the R56 but it's still fun.

I agree, having previously owned a VW GTi 1.8t, there's no replacement for displacement, especially when it comes to low end torque.

I have read some reviews of the car that agree with the posters original feelings. I must agree too....however there is a fix. JCW springs and exhaust are meant to transform the driving experience.
See here:

This may be a $5k upgrade but it sounds like it will return the excitement to the drive. I drove a S3 Audi the other day and it is quite quick 4.7secs to 60mph! But unless you are seriously breaking the law it is a bit dull.....I get it!

May I add to the chorus...Trolls be trollin' with poor grammar...

I spent many hours researching and test driving all of the hot hatches available in the US and bar none the refinement (which may not be what the OP was looking for) offered by the MINI in all categories is the best.

If I may be so bold to help the OP out:
GTI -- Massive Turbo lag, I timed it on my watch
Focus ST -- Torque steer enough that it reminded me of an old Sentra Spec-V
Fiesta ST -- Not an adults car imho
Buick -- Get Real

Regards
