F55/F56 2015 MY Sport Seat changes
#27
Call me crazy, but I find it hard to believe that MINI could/would make an unplanned change to a major component just months after the cars release. Even if they wanted to make the change, nothing in this business is as easy as, "uh, could you make the seats an inch wider starting next week"?
I have a 2015 with leatherette and it still hugs like I remember from my previous drives. I supposed it could be changed, but I would be shocked.

We have a 2015 but the controls of the 2014. We don't feel any difference in the size of the seat, but it looks like our week 28 build might have 2014 seats. We still think they are one of the best features of the car.

I'm amazed they were able to make a switch so quickly. I remember being surprised when I saw the lumbar adjustment in my car and I wasn't expecting it. That said, the good news is that the seats are still awesome. It's a bit early to judge, but definitely some of the favorites I've had.

I tried the new seats yesterday on a brand new car. They are a little bit less squeezy than before, but not much. No difference on the thigh support that I could notice in a quick test.
It was a chili red Cooper SD with the JCW aerodynamic kit and sports suspension. Very nice car![Smilie](https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
the sport suspension was perfect to my taste. Not bouncy but tight. Felt like my old R53 JCW with standard suspension. Not as hard/bouncy as the sport suspension on my friend's R56 JCW.

Well my 2015 black pearl sport seats have the lumbar adjustment wheel. Mine was built end of August. Seems strange some are different. Is it a difference between the justa and an s? I do admit, I think the seats are more snug than the 14 I test drove. Which seems to be the opposite of the consensus here. Maybe the wider ones have no lumbar? Weird

When I read about the sport seats on Miniusa website, they said the seats had lumbar adjustments. My 2014 doesn't have it. My wife's car does and her's is a 2014 also. Difference is she has something other than the standard leatherette seat. Her's has the leather surface and heating......figure if you upgrade the seats, then maybe the lumbar adjustment is added also? And for the 2015s it is standard for all the sport seats?

Just sat in a 2015 MY with sport seats and leatherette, no lumbar. Might be based off options. The side handles have a different design and are easier to use. Yes the bolster on the seats are a tad wider.
Possible if the frame stay the same lumbar retrofit.

That's pretty weird that some have it some don't, sort of like the rev matching in 2nd gear: some do some don't. FWIW to those without it I had lumbar on my 2007 sport seats and never used it. I don't have it now on my Recaros and they are 100% fine. I personally liked the F56 sport seats in the maybe satellite gray fabric (not leather). Very economical I thought.
