Anyone have the definitive settings for the MCS?

You can find many of them in this document, like the gear ratios.

You have to multiply them by the final gear ratio.

http://s3.motoringfile.com.s3.amazon...1/US-Specs.pdf

I asked MINI for Brake Specific Fuel Consumption and Volumetric Efficiency, but they did not give them to me.

I will figure out Minimum Engine Speed and Shift Point by experiment.

There's a description of the settings here:
https://www.palmerperformance.com/do...ser_Manual.pdf

Shift Point – This value is used for the gear calculations. Set this value to the most economical shift RPM.

OK, please help me, where is the OBDII interface?

In the manual it has an arrow vaguely pointed above the dead pedal.

It is a downward-facing female port above the dead pedal. Stick your hand under the dashboard in that area and feel around for it. I used my iPhone's front-facing camera to look underneath and was able to spot it fairly easily. Dimensions are approximately 1cm x 4cm.

Thats pretty much the area. Its on that side. Just ahead of where your knee might sit. It has a little cover on it. Just slide the cover off and plug it in!

Thank you, great advice.

Mine didn't have a cover on it [that's an R56 thing?], I'm not sure why I couldn't find it by feel last night.

Here's a photo, I'm not sure if it will be useful to anyone else, it's a bit blurry. What's important is that little metal plate beside it with a tab that hangs down, that's pretty easy to find when you feel around down there. The port is just to the left.

When the speedometer was reading 60 km/h, the iPod said I was at 54 km/h.

What is it calculating, or is the speedometer wrong?

I don't think it's calculating it. It says "vehicle speed sensor" in the Data Grid screen.

The speedometer must be purposefully set fast. I will have to compare it to my GPS.

But the odometer has to be correct, by law?

---------------------

I tried to get a number for "Shift point" tonight. I put the car in green mode and crawled down the road. It seems to shift between 2000 and 1750, shifting sooner in the higher gears.

I was eyeballing it the day before and it seemed to be 1750.

I'm not sure what number to use.

Dash command has settings for wheel size. That probably has to be entered for an accurate reading. I was within 1mph on my car.

I need to check everything again. What is VSS measuring?
It counts the rotation of something in the transmission.
Is the speed generated by the instrument or by calculation?

Speedometer & Cruise Control 100 km/h
Vehicle Speed Sensor 95 km/h
GPS 98 km/h

What's weird is that it is not out a percentage, it's just out.
At 60km/h on the speedometer it showed 54km/h.

Tire size is going to change as the tire wears.

Ok, I tested it again, it is out some percentage.

I chose 1880 as the Shift Point in my 3-Cyl.

I put in 0.55 for BFSC. Can that be calculated?

I also chose 1150 as the minimum RPM in gear.

One of the coolest things is that it shows the remaining fuel as a percentage. I will have to see if it has the oil level and tire pressures somewhere.
No oil level, no voltage, no tire pressure.

I have a Dual bluetooth GPS hooked up, it works with Google maps [or it was working,
I will have to double check] but it doesn't fill in the GPS coordinates in DashCommand.

Oh, there's a "GPS fix for iOS 8" update for DashCommand today, let's try it out! ...

It works.

Are we able to actually reprogram the shift RPMs? Or is that some setting in the app itself to accurately read the raw data coming out?

I have a cheap ELM327 ODB2 bluetooth adapter which works well with an Android app called Torque Pro. Is DashCommand better than TorquePro?

The shift RPM setting is a number that DashCommand uses for calculations.

It doesn't program anything. It shows various gauges, logs data and reads engine codes.

What does Torque Pro do?

Ahh.. I see. Torque Pro just reads data from your ODB2 reader. It can display tons of information, and the layout can be customized to the ones you are only interested in.

I use it like this on my Mazda.

Looks like Dash Command is similar to Torque Pro but with a bit more customization.
