F55/F56 Snow tires and wheels pkg
Found that this is what other pissed people are doing about TPMS.

I never heard of speedometer calibration. If there is such thing, I would always set it to whatever is smallest tire diameter so it shows slightly lower than real speed and less distance. This will give a bit longer warranty in miles. When I had a Hyundai Elantra 2000, speedo used to show 10% over than actual speed and I was pissed about that. Then on Elantra 2007 it was 5% over the actual. Dealer couldn't fix any of this and there was a bulletin that says they give that much extra on warranty. On Mazda CX-5, it shows slightly lower than the actual speed, which I like.

I found out Mazda's implementation on TPMS is much better (cheaper). My CX-5 uses ABS brake sensors to calculate the tire interference, and when that drops certain amount, it warns the users about low air pressure. There's nothing special on the tires themselves. If I change tire pressure or change tires, I can reset the TPMS by holding the TPMS button for 3 seconds.
On the F56, now even European cars have pressure sensors, so we will have the same problem for the few of us that use winter wheels.
No, I think I read that U.S. mandates any kind of TPMS implementation, whether direct or indirect detection. Mazda CX-5 is a ground up new model from 2013 after the breakup between Mazda and Ford.
If it's not too hard to program the TPMS, it might be better to just buy those sensors on ebay for less than $100 for 4.

They do, they are right here: F56+ MINI and some newer model BMWs.
they look a bit smaller, the stem looks to be the same size. And come together as stem and unit sensor.

My car isn't an F56, but I did get winter tires and wheels. I got runflat Blizzak snow tires with the pressure sensors so I wasn't stuck by the side of the highway with the plows going past trying to deal with slime, or waiting for AAA in the cold. On runflats it's probably more important to have the sensors as you can't see at a glance that the tire has deflated, and may not even feel it. The sensors give you the warning so that you can do something about it. For my car it was about $200 for the four sensors, but I was getting free mounting and balancing in the package from Tire Rack anyway. Seemed like small money for safety.
Looks like there is a factory Steel wheel option for the F56 Cooper ( NON S ) . 15" 36116851510

And they are exactly the wheels I am getting - factory 15" steels. Already at my dealer - non Mini, don't need the markup
No fancy alloys for me - steelies are stronger and won't crack when I get out there and play hard
I really like the rough and tumble Mad Max type looks too.
Initially I tried to get the 5 x 112 wheels installed from my GTI but the Mini bore size was larger than that on my GTI! Boo!
My package is coming in at less than $ 700 (Canadian) including brand new winter tires.
I am not getting TPMS as I'm perfectly capable of monitoring my own pressures and can tolerate a petite warning light for 4-5 mths a year.
I hate when manufacturers treat me like a girl - no dipstick etc

Diana, My sentiments also,I can read a tire guage pretty well.My tirerack package includes Blizzak WS80 195/55-16 on 100$ alloys,TPMS delete-996$ mount/ balance/shipped. Wish 16 inch steelies were available.
They had two wheel packages at my dealer, black steel and loop spoke. I assume the sensors are in them. They had sold out of the loop spoke wheels, I should get them next week, I guess. Not cheap. I asked about cross spoke wheels, they were only selling loop spoke wheels as part of the package.
Nice! - well respected Blizzacks and alloys at a good price. You will have a go anywhere "let's get this winter started" Mini
I have my factory 17" wheels that just came off my car for sale if anyone wants them for snow wheels. No sensors or tires, but the wheels have only 400 miles on them. They are the 17" Tentacle wheels in silver. PM me if you are interested.

Canadian MINIs have this system. I just got my winter tires on alloy rims, no sensors, no warnings or resets needed. BTW I bought 17 " Pirelli Sottozero II (runflats) on matt black FAST rims. With taxes and installation it was about $1900 (Cdn). Yeah that's a lot, but I expect to keep my winters for at least 3 years and the tires are fairly high end. The car still looks great with winter tires. As a comparison, a set from a MiNI retailer would have cost about $2800. Albeit that's on OEM rims but I can live without them.

There are several posts in this thread on what people are doing for winter tires. You started this thread 9/30,better get going snows coming!! Ton of info /options on tireracks site..But to answer your question 15 or 16 in. on a MCS I say 16
Funny you should mention that as these arrived for me yesterday:
Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60 Runflats 195/55R-16
MSW Type 25 silver wheels
Tirerack.com storage bags (if you're gonna do it, do it right)
This will be my first winter with snow tires so I can't offer any opinions on performance.
I have the black cosmos spokes as my standard wheels, I figure the silver would change up the look a bit and hide the salt.

I just order my winter tires/wheels with TPMS so will let you know.

It was $260 not $300+

For F56 Cooper it will ( has smaller front brakes ) , not for F56 Cooper S.
Thanks
