I have the black/red dot mats now, had the black/gold dots (pic) on my 2007 MCS. I love these mats and they indeed have measure the F56 car because they called me before they made mine and asked if it was an R56 or F56 2014 car. Edit: the pic came from My Gallery and doesn't apparently enlarge here.

Coco Mat sent me samples. I was going to go with black wool but their black does not match the existing carpet. Loyd mats look good but have no heal pad. Anyone else have experience with quality black wool mats?

Go with gray
Nice contrast
doesn't show dirt as much as black

I ordered ours directly from Coco Mats. The original coco-style, not the synthetic or wools. Black with orange dots (the car is orange). Don't look OEM but I don't really care about that, either. Good quality, fair price, no hassles, would buy them again. Not sure what else to say.

Don't buy knockoffs (and there are a few). Buy the original Cocomat material, it's black and matches the car carpet. Cost me about $150 for 2 shipped, took a couple weeks because they cut them after you order them. I don't vacuum them, just throw them upside down on the driveway and the dirt comes out.

I like the gray idea.

My interior will be:
  • MINI Yours Interior Style in Dark Cotton Wood
  • Shadow Gray Color Line
  • Seats of Leather/Cloth: Diamond Carbon Black
  • Anthracite Headliner
I am thinking of Wool gray or Furstil 6.6 medium gray,
Anybody has opinions on these choices?

I can't recommend the Cocomats enough, I have them in 3 different cars and love them.
We already have them listed for the F56 to help you out

This is just my opinion, which anyone can accept or reject as they like.

1.) The color samples on the website look like the real thing. In other words, true to color. You don't need swatches to make a decision. Just look at the site.

2.) No mat they offer will "look" OEM. Well, maybe the all black wool ones might but everyone is asking about colors. And especially not the Coco ones. They look like a jute rug that has been dyed. You need to be OK with that. You're paying for a quality manufactured piece that fits correctly, not an exact OEM match and especially not a cheap Chaiwanese trim-to-fit piece of crap from Pep Boys.

It's just a floormat for car. Don't over-think this.

Really? Everyone has his or her own opinion. I personally want these because they will be lighter than OEM and should lower my 0-60 time...

FYI they are heavier than the OEM, but that is because they are more durable.

Shouldn't take long. I ordered the sample on the 14th, and got a notice today they'd been shipped (or at least a shipping label has been paid).

Hey daffodildeb, me too. Ordered on 13th and got message that samples shipped USPS today. I don't think it should take very long to arrive since they ship from SC and I'm in NC.

We have to obsess over floor mats because we have nothing else to obsess over while we wait for our chance to obsess over all things others get to obsess over once they have their cars in hand.

Darn it! In that case I'll just do a passenger seat lawn chair swap.

My opinion is don't get wool or gray. Get black with whatever colored dots you think will match. The carpet is black and a the headliner, dash, are black. Here's what my black/red dot look like, with some dirt sitting on top. Dirt doesn't imbed in the fibers. they are way heavier because the rubber backing is really thick, they don't move around and if your car has the velcro on the carpet the mats will have velcro too (mine does).

I like the way you think!

Actually, floor mats do make a difference. I looked at what MINI offered, supposedly to match the JCW interior, and it was...garish. No way would it look good with the other interior and exterior selections I'd ordered. I'd already considered coco mats in red and black, and when I saw zekemini's at our club meeting, it was a no brainer. Her interior is fairly similar to mine, although mine will actually be a little brighter; hence the reason I had no interest in the MINI USA floor mats. The price is the same.

TBN

Do these have the "circles" on the bottom to stick them in place like the OEM ones do? Or any other facility to keep them from moving around?

Mine have the circles plus velcro. The backing also has bumps and the mats themselves weigh a ton. They don't shift or move around.

What he said. The velcro is there but these things do not move at all, trust me. There's enough rubber on the back to make a tire out of lol. On my 2007 I paid $100 for the OEM mats from the dealer. Worst money I ever spent. The mats that came with my JCW were the same POS mats except they didn't charge (extra).

Just a followup--I got 3 samples a few days ago. I'd actually only asked for one (black with red fibers, #51), but they also sent all black (#22), and an interesting third option--a large herringbone-type weave, with as much red as black, #101). I actually like that one quite a bit, but need to see if the red in the mats would match the red armrest and colorline I ordered. Each color block in the third mat is about 1" square. Guess I'll need to see the car first.

C'mon, EPA!

P.S. These mats are quite substantial, like Newt says; they won't move. We've had coco mats from this company since our '64 Porsche was nearly new. I think the first set lasted about 35 years (the car was stored for about 20 of those years), and we got a new set when we restored it, about 10 or 12 years ago.

Mine are supposed to arrive tomorrow. Black with the red bits. Need to add a little color to my all black interior.

Long time Coco Mat user here. Like many have said, they are quite heavy and not prone to shifting about. With that said, after repeated bouts of spirited driving they are not immune to tiny incremental creeps forward (as would anything not fastened down) until the edge of the mat is in contact with the accelerator pedal.

This is easily mitigated by transferring the OEM Velcro plates over to the Coco Mats (assuming the F56 OEM mats are similar to the prior generation). The broad threads on the side attaching to the mat can be attached to the mat backing and is completely invisible from the top. Drilling a small pilot hole into the mat helps the threads to catch. The bottom half mounts to the carpet as before. This will help ensure the desired gap is maintained between the mat and the base of the accelerator pedal, and the mats will stay rock-solid in position.
