So I hope to be picking up my new F56 this coming saturday. Before I sign the paperwork and drive it off the lot, what are some things to check out? I'm thinking of things like scratches and the shipping goo talked about in another thread. What else should I be looking for?

I wouldn't worry too much. I drove a Mini off the lot with seat covers that were really badly fitted and went back in 2 weeks and they replaced them. Mini are good like that.
Unless it is a scratch that could be by you most everything else is covered by the warranty. On occasions cars get damaged in transit. I would ask your MA if this is the case. The paint job they do in the factory is pretty good. I personally not want a car that has been repainted no matter how good - unless they gave me lots of free accessories :-). If you notice any panel color variation after you drive the new baby home you can go back to him or her if you asked the question.
