I know that ordering roof rails was an option in the UK, but not in the US. Anyone know why? Also my MA can't advise anything on the subject when I asked to order them. Has anyone anyone heard if this will be an option in the future?

I read somewhere roof rails will be an option on MY2015 beginning with November production. Not sure how much truth there is to that though...

 

Correct. US F56 will include roof rails as an available option beginning November production. Supply could not meet demand for release in both Europe and US for 2014 models. Delayed introduction for US.

It is obviously much more expensive to have it done outside the factory. I am tempted to see what labor would cost to have this done.

 

$517 for the rails plus 4 hours of labor? Yikes! I doubt many will do this.

 

I ordered mine with roof rails and I am in the US. It is available on the Configurator.

 

I saw that and inquired at my local dealer about installation ... They told me that 5 hours labor (give or take) will equate to a $1279.00 charge. Yes, you read that right, I was quoted $1280 for labor to install the $517.00 part, which is a $250 option when the vehicle is ordered.
