Bad news!!!!

The gear linkage has snapped on my car today :(

MINI Assist came out and the bloke has done a running repair on the car with cable ties but it's going to have to go to the dealers a week on Thursday to have it replaced.

The even worse news is that it's a 2 day job and the full centre console needs to come out to get access to it all.

I'm livid!!

Quick update - ordered the JCW Pro Spoiler Extensions.

These will be another UK 1st when they arrive next week from Germany

Unsure at the moment whether or not to paint them the same white as the roof, or leave them black??

Next up will be the JCW Body Kit and the optional extra JCW Pro parts to enhance things further (splitter extensions front and rear and rear diffuser)

Those splitter extensions, rear diffuser, and wing extenders look fantastic.

The splitter extensions in particular really help eliminate that underbite appearance that the lower fascia creates.

I've been holding off positing anything about it, but the mag are happy for it to be revealed now, so here are a few shots taken by a guy called Jon Cass for an upcoming Modern MINI magazine feature.

Just when I thought I was all set for an intake...... I have found this

100% on the shopping list but not cheap at £500, however it is full carbon fibre.

Bit of an update....

Sadly we had our house broken into and the Police suspect it was an attempt to try and steal the keys to the car. Thankfully I still have it. No more details on a public forum, for obvious reasons.

The better news is that I think I am going to bite the bullet and just buy a bloody intake!!! The ARMA one looks awesome, but it costs the earth and is STILL nowhere near release!!!

So I think I'm getting the GruppeM intake, just awaiting a price from Evolve.

It does, though.

The fully integrated appearance of the Arma intake looks great. I just don't like the 'filter on a stick' approach to intakes.

Couple of pretty good updates for this thread....

On Monday I decided to order up the F56 JCW brake upgrade. This compromises of the following:

For the front:

2 x 4 piston Brembo calipers in red with JCW logo
2 x 335x30mm drilled and grooved discs
2 x sets of pads
2 x sensors
2 x backing plates
All mounting hardware

For the rear:

2 x rear calipers & carriers painted red (same as Cooper S, just red)
2 x rear plain discs (same as Cooper S)
2 x sets of pads
2 x sensors
All mounting hardware

and the callipers look like this! :cloud9:

I should get one of the 1st sets about, which will be great and I can't wait to see them on the car!!!

Today I took a trip down to Evolve Automotive in Luton for the fitting and testing of the GruppeM carbon fibre intake. This is their 'Super Cleaner' pod design which houses a K&N filter.

I got the car down to them for just before 11am and they set about doing some pulls on the dyno with the stock airbox where the car hit a peak of 202.6 bhp, not bad considering the only performance mod is the Remus valvetronic exhaust!!

Pleasantly surprised, they then swapped in the GruppeM air intake and over the same number of runs on the dyno the car hit a peak of 202.2 bhp with a 1 degree increase in IAT, again impressive considering the lack of direct cold air feed like the OEM system.

The biggest benefit for me about the GruppeM is this..... don't think it will get boring for a while!! :excited:

Dyno sheet for those who are interested:

The other pretty exciting news is that Evolve are very keen to be working on the F56, with some plans in the pipeline! While the car was there they took the chance to try one of their own in-house 'eventuri' carbon pods on the car. With the help of some rather cool 3D printing, the knocked up a MAF adapter and stuck one on the car. It made more than 2 bhp over the stock system, and again that was with no cold air feed like the OEM design. Also its worth pointing out that this was literally just a mockup so who knows what the gains will be once they play about with the pod size and add a cold air feed duct...... I will be keeping close to this and no doubt end up changing over to the Evolve kit at some stage!!!

So the GruppeM air intake and the stock airbox dyno results are the same within 1/2bhp? I think I'm not understanding something here ...

Love the look of your car! Must lower my suspension
The intake reminds me of a carbon fibre toilet plunger - being a car fanatic I would love one for my bathroom

What is there to not understand?

The OEM box made 202.6 bhp and the GruppeM made 202.2 bhp

The GruppeM is sold without any dyno evidence (like every other F56 intake on the market, except the ARMA) so there was always going to be an element of risk associated with buying it!

The main benefits of the GruppeM (and probably the others on the market) is the ridiculous increase in the amount of induction noise, which can be heard in the video I posted. Alongside much better looks (not true of all the kits on the market) when compared to the stock system which is a big black plastic mess!

Nobody is sticking their necks on the block and testing things for the F56, so I wanted to do some real world tests with back to back dyno runs and to be honest I'm not disappointed at all - same power as before and much better looks and sound!!

I cant understand / read a dyno.... but if i understand correctly.
The Intake pretty much did not make much of a difference VS. Stock? Except it is sucking it colder air than the factory box and makes more noise and looks better? lol

Just trying to help the other guy who did not understand...

R99 , I was gonna get the ARMA variable intake just for the cool factor... But it looks like their valve need some sort of special setting up. And their instruction is horrible lol.

So no intake for me for now...

Yea i know, it is 1k USD for non variable.
But if im going for ARMA, i'd get the variable because of the cool factor lol.

I am not a fan of K&N Air filter, due to their oiliness.
Thats what gruppem uses...
