I read that there is a fuse that shuts this system down. Anyone discover it yet?
Only on the MCS...btw.

 

So how bad is the active sound? (Bad enough that you're looking for the fuse I take it, but interested if you have any additional perspective).

 

It's more a principle thing. To me it is like having the a recording of a waterfall playing through the speakers on your home stereo...
If I want more noise in the car I'll put on a bigger exhaust!
What's that song...."Cool Jerk". You think the car sounds cool racing through the gears and it is silent to the people you pass!

I agree with this 100%. That was the first thing I removed on my FR-S when I bought it. On the MINI my understanding is the 'sound tube' is installed on the S and JCW models. I don't know that there's a fuse. I thought it was a small hollow tube coming from the area of the air intake and entering the cabin thru the firewall. My MINI is a 2013 base model and I'm told I don't have that concern.
